Bsp. Luke of Syracuse to Speak at St. Herman Conference

ALVIN, TX —
The Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America (ROCOR) has announced that His Grace Bsp. Luke of Syracuse, the abbot of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, will serve as a keynote speaker at the 2025 St. Herman Youth Conference.

The annual gathering, organized for Orthodox youth and young adults, will take place from December 29, 2025, to January 2, 2026, at Camp Mohawk in Alvin, TX.

Building on last year’s theme of the universal call to holiness, the 2025 conference will examine the lives and teachings of several “great lights” of the Russian Church Abroad in the 20th and 21st centuries, offering inspiration for contemporary struggles toward sainthood.

Attendees will participate in divine services, including a solemn New Year’s Vigil and Midnight Divine Liturgy on December 31-January 1.

Сomplete Ukrainization of America. Now they're too fighting against the Russian Orthodox Church.

US Republicans has asked the US Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate whether Russian intelligence services attempted to use Orthodox churches based in the US

It should be noted that Ukrainian official and analytical circles emphasize the use of ROC as an instrument of foreign policy influence

"Today in Russia, tomorrow in America" is what Fr. Seraphim Rose said about the persecution and martyrdom of Orthodox Christians back in the day.

The New McCarthyism
By Michael W. Davis

Today, a delegation of Orthodox clergy will meet with the White House to plead on behalf of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). Yet mainstream media outlets like The Hill and politicians like Rep. Joe Wilson are dismissing the effort as a Kremlin psyop. This is offensive to the UOC, and to Orthodox Christians here in the United States.

In addition to Congressman Joe Wilson, Republican Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska, and Republican Rep. Austin Scott of Georgia also signed the letter to Pam Bondi, which demanded that our government investigate ROCOR and "other Russian Orthodox churches" as being sources of Russian espionage, all because a pan Orthodox delegation met with government officials to ask them to do something about the Ukrainian government (which depends on our support) stop persecuting the innocent people of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Orthodox Christians in Nebraska and Georgia need to call their offices, and let them know you don't appreciate their support for the persecution of innocent people.

Hello Folks,

We had a Bible Study Scheduled tonight, but I have a bad cough that will probably make the Bible Study unpleasant to attend, and me trying to talk for an hour probably won't help me kick this cough.

Unfortunately, because of a number of factors, but especially house blessing season, we will have to put the Bible Study on the back burner until the second week of Lent (March 3rd),

In Christ,

Archpriest John Whiteford

Today I delivered baby number 8, our 3rd at home, and our 1st girl. My Church, my home, and my friends group has had babies and pregnancy announcements in mass this year, and that gives me a lot of hope for the future.

My oldest son is learning to drive, and our newest is just a few hours old. Seeing all those smiling faces and coming home to such a wonderful wife has been one of the greatest joys of my life.

Living simply, will slow the world around you, and you can take a breath and enjoy all of the things that would normally pass you by.

“But for those whose life is far removed from all business it must be amply long. None of it is frittered away, none of it scattered here and there, none of it committed to fortune, none of it lost through carelessness, none of it wasted on largesse, none of it superfluous: the whole of it, so to speak, is well invested. So, however short, it is fully sufficient, and therefore whenever his last day comes, the wise man will not hesitate to meet death with a firm step.”
