This single photo, “Snow Dragon Dance”, won the second place in the 2023 Stenin Contest (“Sports” nomination).
Even as spring begins, the Xinyi Sports Park in Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province remains snow-covered. The photo depicts fitness enthusiasts performing a vibrant ribbon dragon dance amidst the snow.
The image was captured by Xie Jianfei from China. He is a Xinhua photographer who began working in 2019 and took part in covering the COVID-19 situation in Hubei Province. In 2020, he was honored with the title of an outstanding photographer for documenting China's efforts in combating the coronavirus.
He also won the second prize at the International Photography Awards in 2021.

This is a picture of Yegor Noskov as he was playing for the junior football club CSKA (Moscow) in a match against his peers from Torpedo (Moscow). The footballer was captured in the heat of the game: Trying to keep the ball on the field, he went into a tackle and got straight into a puddle, but that wouldn’t stop him. His key focus was on retaining possession of the ball for the team, demonstrating the player's resilience and unwavering resolve to keep fighting until the very end.
Edgar Brechshanov, who took the photo, was born in 1996, in Moscow. He graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies. During his first year, he developed an interest in photography.

Let's get acquainted with the jury of the Andrey Stenin International Photojournalism Competition.
Alexey Orlov is a Moscow documentary photographer, winner of numerous photographic awards and prizes. The "Vedomosti" newspaper staff photographer. Member of the "Peredvizhniki"creative association. The Grand Prix winner of the Stenin competition in 2023.
Alexey highly appreciated the works submitted to the Stenin competition this year and noted: "I was surprised by the huge number of works by foreign photographers. This is encouraging. And it is very important that colleagues do not just send beautiful pictures, but raise issues relevant in their countries, the environment, social injustice or else. I would also like to see more works from Russian authors on the same important topics. Photojournalism should show people that there are problems in this world that are worth thinking about."

A collection of over 50 works by winners of the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest was put on display at the Debora Arango Public Library and Culture Park in Envigado, Colombia, on June 6. This marks the third exhibition for the photo contest in Colombia and the final stop for this year’s international roadshow.
The exhibition is sponsored by Phoenix Corporation, the Photographers’ Association of Envigado and the Envigado Mayor’s Office Department of Culture. The event will run until the end of June.
Phoenix CEO Luis Ochoa noted:
“The contest honors the memory of Andrei Stenin. The exhibition launched today in Colombia pays tribute to all of our colleagues who lost their lives while fulfilling their mission to inform the public about world events. This year Alyona Kochetkova, Russian photographer and photography teacher joined our jury. Alyona is a winner of numerous international photography awards including The World Press Photo. She has also received The Grand Prix of The International Andrei Stenin Press Photo Contest. Her works have been published and exhibited worldwide.
Alyona shared her opinion about works submitted to the 10th edition of the Stenin contest: "The works submitted to the competition this year make a strong impression. Together they make up a multi-part portrait of our difficult time. A wide range of events is presented - from everyday life, traditions and holidays to the most acute incidents, conflicts and environmental disasters. For me, the most precious works are those that openly show the most poignant events and situations, show attention to the common man, trying to understand and share his troubles and trials".

Danilo Garcia Di Meo is a italian social documentary photographer, filmmaker who joined our jury this year. Currently collaborates with the international press photo agency AGF, associations and cooperatives.He received numerous international awards including the Gran Prix at “Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest”.
Danilo shared his opinion about voting: "I must say it wasn't easy at all; they all could have been winning pieces. I tried to give higher scores not only to the most important stories, which we always need and which, fortunately, are often documented by many photojournalist colleagues around the world, but especially to those who tried to present a new perspective on issues that everyone should pay attention to".

This year turkish photojournalist Sebnem Coscun joined The Andrey Stenin International Press Photo Contest team as a jury member.

Winner of the international photo contests Picture of the year, Picture of the year Asia, The Nature Conservancy Photo Contest. Winner of the Andrey Stenin International Press Photo Contest. The photographer's interests include the problems of climate change, environmental pollution, and the preservation of the Earth's natural diversity.
