Role in the 1947-48 Indo-Pakistani War:
Sen played a pivotal role in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947-48, which took place shortly after India’s partition. He was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s 161st Brigade, which was deployed in Jammu and Kashmir during the conflict.
He led several key military operations to recapture strategic areas in Kashmir from the invading Pakistani forces and tribal militias.
His leadership during the Battle of Badgam and other key military engagements helped secure Kashmir’s accession to India, making him one of the war’s most prominent military leaders.
Post-War Contributions:
After the 1947-48 war, Sen continued to serve the Indian Army in various high-ranking positions.
He was later appointed the General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Eastern Command, where he was responsible for managing operations in India’s northeastern regions.
