The library of St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College is furnished with the latest in ICT to provide efficient service to students.

Now the library is equipped with the KOHA system, a software for integrated library operations relation to book circulation and cataloging. The system provides OPAC, an Online Public Access Catalog which allows students to browse the complete bibliography of the library’s collection from anywhere. It also assists the librarian in tracking down books that are checked out.

Another feature of St. Paul’s library upgrade is the Green Stone, a suite of software for building and distributing digital library collections. This digital library is accessible only from the college’s premises. It provides e-journals and a collection of over 6,000 books in many departments.

Meet the ISO Founder and Director, Dr. Rania Ibrahim!

With the hopes of developing a platform for new innovative and strategy-driven systems in Ethiopia’s healthcare, Dr. Rania established two new offices at Saint Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC) called the Office of
Innovative Strategies and Operations & the Office of International Communications and Partnerships. This position has led Dr. Rania to prioritize strategic planning initiatives, assess potential collaborative opportunities, as well as directing partner involvement.

Dr. Rania has been licensed and practicing medicine for the past nine years. She received her medical degree from Addis Ababa University Medical Faculty (AAUMF) in 2010.

In 2016, Dr. Rania was selected for the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) – an initiative started by President Barack Obama to develop the next generation of African leaders. As a YALI fellow, she spent six weeks at the University of Notre Dame, where she engaged in business development and entrepreneurship. In 2018, Dr. Rania completed a one-year entrepreneurship master’s program at the University of Notre Dame.

Dr. Rania is excited about the opportunity to use her unique experiences and newly developed skills to strengthen the emerging concept of public-private partnership in Ethiopia’s healthcare system. She is also interested in providing a human-centered approach to healthcare solutions.

In her spare time, Dr. Rania enjoys traveling; she’s been to over ten countries and is passionate about experiencing new cultures.
