Peter Wilkinson inflicted lasting trauma on his five victims
A dangerous sexual predator who specifically targeted vulnerable women as his victims has been jailed for 30 years. Peter Wilkinson, of Drake Gardens in Tavistock, preyed upon five women in the Tavistock area between 2012 and 2024, subjecting his victims to lasting trauma as a result of his abuse.
Wilkinson, 53, was found guilty of 21 separate offences following a five-week trial at Plymouth Crown Court in April. He must serve two thirds of the 30 year custodial sentence element of the sentence before he can be considered for parole, and must also sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

▫️Arrests as part of Brazil sex trafficking inquiry, 10 victims id'd
Five people have been arrested as part of an investigation into alleged human sex trafficking on Teesside.
Cleveland Police said it had carried out a year-long inquiry into "vulnerable people" being moved from Brazil to Middlesbrough and Hartlepool. Det Sgt John Bentley said women were allegedly being brought into the UK "for use in the adult sexual services industry, mainly online".
Four men, aged 25, 29, 39 and 40, and a 41-year-old woman, were arrested during raids on suspicion of human trafficking and forced labour offences. Cleveland Police said it had been in contact with more than 10 potential victims and they were taken into protection.

Ontario Provincial Police advised in a news release Sunday evening that the wanted federal offender Darren Wheatley, 55, was apprehended in Toronto.
Authorities said that the repeat offender with ties to Parry Sound who had been unlawfully at large since Thursday was located and arrested by the Toronto Police Service on Sunday. Darren Wheatley, 55, was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for allegedly breaching his long-term supervision order, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Friday.

LAWMEN have rescued two potential victims of human trafficking, including a child, in the province of Tawi-Tawi, the police said Monday, June 2, 2025.
The 1st Special Operations unit (1SOU) of the Maritime Group withheld the identities of the two rescued potential victims except in saying they include a 26-year-old woman and his eight-year-old son from Laguna.
The 1SOU said they were rescued around 3 p.m. Friday, May 30, at the port of Bongao, the capital town of Tawi-Tawi. The 1SOU, in coordination with the military and other government agencies, launched the rescue operation after receiving information from a concerned citizen about the suspicious travel of two passengers from Metro Manila to Bongao via Zamboanga City.

▫️South Africa: Guest house managers due in court on sex trafficking charges (UPDATE)
Two suspects are expected to appear in court after police officials searched a premises in Goodwood where a victim was allegedly being held against her will as a sex worker.
The Hawks, based in Bellville and George, collaborated with the Department of Home Affairs and A21, a non-government organisation, in arresting the suspects on Saturday.
Hawks spokesperson, Siyabulela Vukubi, said: β€œThis was as a result of a search warrant that was executed after information was received of a possible trafficked victim being held against her will in a guest house in Goodwood and forced to work as a sex worker. During the search, four females were found in the guest house, who admitted to being sex workers. An additional five other adult persons were found along with three small children. Two of the persons were identified as the managers of the guest house.”
