▫️Philippines: Opening salvo: CIDG arrests 1st of 51 accused in human trafficking case filed vs Harry Roque
The arrest of the operations officer of a security agency of a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Porac town of Pampanga became the opening salvo of the aggressive police manhunt against lawyer Harry Roque and all the other accused in the case of human trafficking.
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested Marlon in a raid in Barangay Tabun in Mabalacat City in Pampanga using the arrest warrant issued by an Angeles City court. CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said the case is non-bailable for Roque, Cassandra Ong and all the other 49 accused, including Marlon.

Countries of child abuse cases identified across 190 datasets during latest Europol Victim Identification Task Force
Between 12 and 23 May 2025, victim identification experts from over 30 countries and Europol analysed hundreds of images and videos depicting unidentified victims of child sexual abuse during the 16th edition of the Victim Identification Task Force (VIDTF). This two-week operation at Europol’s headquarters is dedicated to tracking down perpetrators and identifying victims across 100 million images and videos of child sexual abuse material, seized by law enforcement agencies worldwide and contributed to Europol’s databases.
Identifying victims in such a large volume of materials is made even more complex by the ever-growing digital landscape. Since 2014, VIDTF operations have helped safeguard over 940 children and contributed to the arrest of more than 283 offenders.

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) denied claims that Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis was referenced in a human trafficking case reported in August 2024 by a 27-year-old woman.

The woman reportedly approached an officer in the street, alleging she was forced into sex work by a man who exploited multiple women and produced pornographic material. PETALING JAYA - Deepfakes generated by artificial intelligence (AI) are driving a steep rise in synthetic child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and fuelling addiction to such content, particularly among minors.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investi­gations Department’s (CID) sexual, women and child investigation division’s (D11) principal assistant director Siti Kamsiah Hassan said AI is increasingly being misused to generate hyper-realistic CSAM, including deepfake imagery, which is complicating detection and posing challenges for law enforcement in bringing those behind it to book.
She said offenders are also exploiting encrypted messaging applications and dark web forums to share CSAM and are communicating anonymously.

▫️Victims in landmark child abuse trial ask why France doesn't want to know
It was supposed to be a defining, catalytic moment for French society. Horrific, but unmissable. Unignorable.
Instead, the trial of France's most prolific known paedophile, Joel Le Scouarnec - a retired surgeon who has admitted in court to raping or sexually assaulting 299 people, almost all of them children - is coming to an end this Wednesday amid widespread frustration.
Ms Lemoine and some 50 other victims, stung by an apparent lack of public interest in the trial, have formed their own campaign group to pressure the French authorities, accusing the government of ignoring a "landmark" case which exposed a "true laboratory of institutional failures".
The group has questioned why a parliamentary commission has not been set up, as in other high-profile abuse cases, and spoken of being made to feel "invisible", as if "the sheer number of victims prevented us from being recognised." Some of the victims, most of whom had initially chosen to testify anonymously, have now decided to reveal their identities in public – even posing for photos on the courthouse steps – in the hope of jolting France into paying more attention and, perhaps, learning lessons about a culture of deference that helped a prestigious surgeon to rape with impunity for decades.
There's a virtual omertà on this topic globally, but particularly in France. "We simply don't want to acknowledge it," Myriam Guedj-Benayoun, a lawyer representing several of Le Scouarnec's victims, told me.

A female teacher accused of raping a student faces further charges as a result of the boy's father monitoring his messages.
Monique Kieuoanh Nguyen, 29, is accused of abusing a 17-year-old male student at a Sydney school between January and April 2024. Arrested on May 22, 2024, she was originally charged with sexual intercourse with a young person under her care. She has since been hit with nine further charges of intentionally sexually touching the boy and one charge of inciting him to touch her. This alleged misconduct was uncovered by the teen's father who alerted police, Parramatta Local Court was told on Thursday.

▫️Queensland man jailed for indecent treatment of a child and online child abuse offences
A Queensland man has been sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for indecent treatment of a child and accessing, transmitting and soliciting child abuse material.
He was ordered to serve a minimum non-parole period of seven years and six months. The man, 55, was sentenced last week in the Rockhampton Supreme Court after he previously pleaded guilty to 14 child abuse-related offences.
An investigation began in January, 2024, when the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE) received a report from the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency about a person sharing child abuse material in a number of chats on an online platform and claiming they had access to children they could sexually abuse.
