โ–ซ๏ธFather's hidden camera exposes alleged abuse of autistic son at local care facility
SAN ANTONIO - A series of arrests and citations are being executed after a father suspected abuse of his autistic son in a residential care facility and placed a hidden camera in the room.
According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, the allegations were brought to light after the father of a 29-year-old autistic male became suspicious that his son was being abused in the facility, owned by Maofu Home and Community Services, and located near the 7000 block of Highland Lake Drive. The father, unknown to the staff in the facility, bought a camera and placed it in his son's room.
Three men employed by Holland were charged with assault against a disabled individual and injury disabled criminal negligence. All four suspects are natives of countries in Africa, with Israel and Tambe being U.S. citizens. Odiri had a tourism visa to be in the country, which did not allow him to work.
Sheriff Salazar says those who have loved ones in the hands of Maofu Home and Community Services, which has over 10 care facilities in the San Antonio area, should check on them and pay extra attention to their care. He also encouraged those who have experienced or witnessed abuse in a group home to reach out the the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at (210) 335-6000.
