▫️Girls, 16, rescued from sex traffickers at San Jose hotel: SJPD
Two 16-year-old girls were rescued from a hotel on Monterey Road in San Jose, police said.
According to the San Jose Police Department, Peter Supnet, 28, and Edwin Dickerson III, 27, drove the girls to the hotel on April 10. After the group arrived, the underage girls were ordered to perform sex work in exchange for money, police said. When one of the girls tried to leave, she was punched by one of the suspects, police said.
The two men were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on human trafficking charges. Both girls were provided with resources at the scene, police said.

▫️Pre-K teacher accused of sexual assault of preteen on school grounds
A former teacher and dance coach at a Highland Park school is behind bars after authorities said he sexually assaulted a preteen on school grounds.
Vincent Weaver, 29, was arrested Friday and has been charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct and one misdemeanor count of indecent exposure. Highland Park police said Weaver had worked as a fine arts teacher at George Washington Carver Academy since 2023. He also coached the school's dance team.
Weaver was arraigned Monday, according to online records for the 30th District Court, in Highland Park. Magistrate John Bennett set his bond at $250,000, which had not been posted, and scheduled a probable cause conference for 9 a.m. May 27. If convicted of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, Weaver would face a minimum sentence of 25 years and a maximum of life in prison.

▫️Florida man charged with sexually exploiting Utah teen
PROVO — A Florida man was charged Friday with engaging in sexually explicit conversations with a Utah teen.
Matthew Nicholas Menard, 35, is charged in 4th District Court with two counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony; plus enticing a minor and three counts of criminal solicitation, class A misdemeanors.

▫️Sparks man arrested for allegedly trying to lure child
Sparks Police have released details of an incident Friday night where they say a man tried to lure a child into his car.
Around 8:00 p.m. Friday night, officers were called out to Kiley Parkway for a report of a suspicious circumstance. After an investigation, it was found that a suspect, identified as 25-year-old Caleb Tau-Tolliver, had allegedly attempted to lure an 8-year old boy into his car by promising to give him money for snacks.

A federal jury in the Eastern District of Texas convicted Corey Lamar Johnson, 42, of Jefferson, Texas, today on two counts of sex trafficking and related charges for his conduct in trafficking multiple young women in several states, compelling the victims to engage in commercial sex through acts and threats of physical and psychological harm. Specifically, the jury convicted Johnson of two counts of sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, obstruction of a sex trafficking investigation, three counts of interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution, interstate travel in aid of racketeering, and conspiracy to commit interstate travel in aid of racketeering. Johnson’s co-defendants, Jessica Smith, 38, and Rachel Walker, 31, previously pleaded guilty respectively to conspiracy to commit interstate travel in aid of racketeering, and interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution sex trafficking.

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis pimp has been convicted by a federal grand jury on eight counts, including murder in aid of racketeering activity and sex trafficking.
Kristopher McDonald, 37, of Indianapolis, was convicted by a federal jury in Indianapolis. He was the leader of what federal law enforcement called the "Kristopher McDonald Organization."
McDonald recruited and exploited vulnerable women, some from out of state, for his commercial prostitution operation. McDonald used violence against both the women and their clients.

▫️US jury convicts once powerful Haitian gang leader in kidnapping of US missionaries
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — A U.S. jury has found a once powerful Haitian gang leader guilty of organizing the kidnapping of 16 U.S. citizens in 2021 and holding them hostage for more than two months. Germine Joly, whom authorities said led the 400 Mawozo gang in Haiti, will be sentenced later this year following Friday’s conviction at a federal courthouse in Washington, D.C.
Haitian police arrested Joly in 2014, and he was sentenced to life in prison in 2018. Authorities said he still directed gang operations from prison, including the October 2021 kidnapping of 16 Americans, including five children, and a Canadian who worked with the Ohio-based Christian Aid Ministries. The children were ages 6 and 3 and 8 months old.
