A tip off from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) helped Australian police charge a man with nine child abuse offences including the alleged rape of a child.
Northern Territory officers received an urgent referral from the FBI through the Australian Federal Police (AFP) on Wednesday. Detectives and federal agents from the joint anti-child exploitation team allegedly seized 'large quantities of child abuse material' during a search of an Alice Springs home. Police have alleged the man, 28, abused a child aged under five-years-old, who was known to him. The man has been charged with one count of sexual intercourse with a child under 10, two counts of gross indecency with a child under 14 and three counts of producing child abuse material for use via a carriage service. He was also charged with the possession, access and transmission of child abuse material.

From the outside, Queensland police officer Ross Kouimanis seemed like a bastion of his community.
A respected highway cop working the busy Gold Coast traffic beat, he painted himself as a family man — speaking to the local paper once about his kids.
After his retirement, Kouimanis's name was even mentioned in state parliament for his work in the blue uniform.

▫️WA man jailed for online child abuse offences
A West Australian man has been sentenced to 22 months’ imprisonment for accessing and possessing child abuse material, including images and videos of children engaged in sexual acts.
The man, 40, was sentenced on Friday (9 May, 2025) in the Perth District Court after he previously pleaded guilty to two offences. He will be released on a recognizance order to be of good behaviour after six months.
Investigators located and seized a mobile phone, hard drive and laptop. Forensic examination of the devices found 362 videos and 142 images involving children engaged in sexual acts.

▫️Chinese national in WA court charged with online child abuse offences
A Chinese national is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today (9 May, 2025) charged with allegedly possessing child abuse material.
An investigation started in March, 2025, after Australian Border Force (ABF) officers at Perth Airport examined the man’s baggage when he arrived in Australia on a flight from Asia.
ABF officers allegedly found photos and videos on a phone depicting child abuse material and alerted the AFP.

A man from Lurgan who used the so-called 'catfish' method to groom and coerce teenage girls into sending him indecent images has been jailed.
At Craigavon Crown Court on Friday, 21-year-old Max Hollingsbee was sentenced to five years and two months after pleading guilty to a total of 42 charges. The charges included blackmail, possessing indecent images of children, distributing indecent images of a child, sexual communication with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and unauthorised access to computer material.

A former foster parent who failed to show “a shred of genuine remorse” after sexually abusing underage girls has been jailed for 12 years.
Darren Paton repeatedly molested and raped one girl and subjected a second to his unwanted attentions during offending that spanned a decade.
A judge told Paton, 44, that he was found guilty of “a significant course of serious child sexual abuse” against his first victim.

▫️Jesse Lingard's grandad to face retrial over alleged child sex offences
The grandfather of footballer Jesse Lingard will face a retrial on charges of historic sexual abuse. Kenneth Lingard, 86, stood trial at Liverpool Crown Court charged with indecent assaults on a woman who claimed he abused her from the age of five.
The jury in his trial was discharged earlier this month, it can now be reported. On Monday, Judge Katherine Pierpoint fixed a retrial for May 11 next year.

▫️Uganda: Kabojja Junior teacher remanded over sexually abusing 11-year-old boy
A teacher at Kabojja Junior School has been remanded to Luzira Prison after being charged with attempted homosexuality involving an 11-year-old boy.
Godfrey Muwumuza, 43, appeared before Buganda Road court on Friday, where he was charged under Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2023. The charge stems from allegations that he sexually abused the boy during a school trip on May 4 and 5.
The teacher is accused of making the child touch his genitals and attempting further acts while in transit. According to court files, the child alerted his mother via WhatsApp, prompting a police report and subsequent arrest.
