β«οΈOperation Sherwood: Oldham: Three arrested in non-recent child sex abuse operation
Three people have been arrested on suspicion of committing non-recent sexual offences against children in Oldham.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) raided homes in Oldham, Rochdale and Bolton under Operation Sherwood, an investigation into historical cases of child sexual exploitation in the town. Operation Sherwood was launched in 2022 after a critical report found that police and council-run agencies had failed to protect vulnerable children from abuse in Oldham. Speaking about the latest raids, Assistant Chief Constable Parker said her force was "ramping up" its investigation, with further arrests expected. She said officers were "still uncovering the scale" of the abuse and were "absolutely committed to uncovering every single aspect of what occurred in Oldham at that time".

A 58-year-old teacher based in the Capricorn district, in Limpopo, was denied bail by the Mankweng Magistrateβs Court after he was arrested and charged for the rape of a 13-year-old girl.
The names of the child, the school and the accused teacher are concealed in order to avoid secondary victimisation of the abused child. βIt is alleged that the accused was arrested on 31 March 2025 after the child had reported the incident to the principal, that she was being raped by the teacher. Delivering judgement on the disgraced teacherβs bail application, the court remarked that the state has a strong case, and added that there is a likelihood that the accused can interfere with the state witnesses.
