▫️Catholic church is stonewalling sex abuse investigation, Washington attorney general says
The Catholic church is refusing to cooperate with a Washington state investigation into whether it unlawfully used charitable trust funds to cover up sexual abuse by priests, Attorney General Bob Ferguson said Thursday, asking a court to force the Seattle Archdiocese to turn over decades of records.
“We have a good understanding of the content of our files and we have no concern about sharing them with the Attorney General lawfully and fairly,” the statement said.
Ferguson, a Catholic himself, told a news conference that the archdiocese has refused to provide even a single document that had not already been made public, claiming an exemption as a religious institution. The archdiocese disputed that as well, saying it offered this week to provide private deposition documents, but that the attorney general’s office said it wasn’t interested.

▫️Police disclose identities of three more people arrested for holding Nepalis hostage in Kenya (UPDATE)
KATHMANDU - The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office (KVCIO) of Nepal Police has disclosed the identities of three additional individuals arrested on charges of human trafficking for enticing victims with promises of immigration to USA and Canada.
The arrested individuals are 48-year-old Jagat Bahadur Tamang from Okhaldhunga, 46-year-old Bishnu Bahadur Barali and 48-year-old Junga Bahadur BK from Tanahun.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra Regmi disclosed that the arrests occurred near Gaddachauki in Kanchanpur on Sunday. On Friday, the arrests were made after 10 Nepalis, who had attempted to travel to the USA via illegal routes, returned home from Kenya, where they had been held hostage for nine months.
SSP Bhattarai stated that the suspects are believed to have taken 17 more Nepalis hostage in various countries with the intention of sending them to Canada and America.

Two teenagers who were suspected of pimping minors online were arrested in an entrapment operation in Biñan, Laguna.

Police in the southern Tay Ninh Province have determined that VND50 billion (US$1.96 million) was transferred to Cambodia from Vietnam to use a fake sex app created by a group of Vietnamese.
They arrested Dinh Van Phu 33, Nguyen Van Viet, 23, and Vo Quoc Thai, 28, on Saturday for "fraudulent appropriation of property."
