THE SUPERSTITION CYCLE
STEP ONE. Superstition presents a supposed objective case for a position.
STEP TWO. Robust evangelicalism exposes the supposed objective case as a contrived narrative that is supported with selective evidence. They present evidence that is fatal to every supposed substantive argument for the position.
STEP THREE. Superstition whines that robust evangelicalism is not giving their position a fair hearing.
STEP FOUR. Robust evangelicalism revisits the issue, pointing out once again that every supposed substantive argument for the position is based on partial evidence and that a robust examination of the evidence is fatal to both the individual arguments and the position as a whole.
STEP FIVE. Superstition retreats from the arena of objective argument, enters the arena of ad hominem argument, accuses robust evangelicalism of pride, stubbornness, and unteachability, and strengthens themselves in their narrative. Great is the Diana of our superstition! Down with contrary facts and evidence! Down with a robust application of the historical-grammatical hermeneutic!

We are the sheep and Jesus is the door of the sheep~pen, which leads to life eternal. And Jesus is the Good Shepherd of the sheep Who leads and guides, protects and feeds the sheep that belong to Him. As such, we are to listen to His Word and trust what He says ~ all of which is written in the Word of God, the holy Scriptures.

Everyone who has believed God is credited with His righteousness and will be raised at the last days, but each will be resurrected in their order. Before the 70th week of Daniel, Church~age saints will be resurrected, while at the end of that terrible Tribulation period, both Old Testament believers and Tribulation saints will be resurrected. Millenium saints will be resurrected at the end of the Millenium, and we will ALL: "Behold Your face in righteousness; and be satisfied with Your likeness when we awake."

Christ fulfilled the whole Law in His life and death, the whole Law was nailed to the Cross. And because we are in Christ, the righteousness that He gained was also gained for us. We did not need to do anything to be clothed in His righteousness, except believe in Him as Saviour. If we now try to keep the Law, we are effectively saying what Christ did was not enough ~ which allows us to boast in our own efforts. What foolish people we are if we think that we can add to the Cross of Christ. No wonder Paul passionately proclaimed: "But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the Cross, and I to the world."

As we approach Purim, I find it fascinating that influential Persian political figures are today scheming the genocide of the entire Jewish race, similar to the schemes of Haman that we read about in Esther. BUT GOD! The same Almighty God who worked amazingly behind the scenes for Israel's deliverance some 2500 years ago is still working behind the scenes today. He will preserve Israel and harm those who attempt to harm her. The God who never breaks his promises will yet fulfill ALL the promises he made to Israel.

Let us recognise that the normal Christian life in this fallen world, will inevitably result in persecution and pain. Jesus Himself warned that in this world we will have trials and tribulation ~ but we are not to be fearful, for He has overcome the world and we are victorious in Him. Let us, therefore, entrust our souls to our faithful Creator, by doing what is right ~ for this will bring glory to His name and may contribute to a lost sinner being snatched from the jaws of hell.

Jesus came 2000 years ago as Son of God and Son of Man. He came as the living Word of God, the Word made flesh, and thus when God spoke to us by His Son, He became God's final WORD to humanity, which is recorded in the written Word of God. And for centuries, we have been living in the last days ~ the time of God's full and final revelation to mankind: "For long ago God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets at different times and in different ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, Whom He appointed the Heir of all things and through Whom also he created the world."

We are called saints who are to live our life by grace through faith in Christ. We are justified by faith but we are also to be sanctified by faith, as we die to self and live for Christ. And it is works of righteousness that are carried out in this life that will add to our bright, clean linen garment. As believers, we are blessed to be covered by Christ's righteousness but we are also instructed to clothe ourselves in fine linen, bright and clean, which are the post~salvation righteous acts of the saints. May we die to self and live for Christ so that we may produce acts of righteousness ~ to the praise and glory of God.

God is in heaven, and to all who believe in Christ Jesus as Saviour, He will appear a second time. Right now, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God making intercession for us all. But one day, He will come back to earth in His glorious Second Coming at the end of the Tribulation period. And for Christians in this Church age, we look forward to the day when Christ will come in the clouds to gather us to Himself, before the Tribulation period, in the wonderful Rapture of the Church.
