Post-tribbers often appeal to 2 Thessalonians 2 as proof of a post-tribulation Rapture, but that isn’t what the passage says.

Paul says, “BY the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and BY our gathering together unto him” (v. 1).

The word ‘BY’ is a preposition used in petitions. The ‘BY’ phrase gives us the ground or REASON for the petition.

Then verse 2 says the “day of the Lord” is “at hand.” The Greek enestēken means is here, is present.

So Paul’s point is not, “You cannot be raptured until the Antichrist is revealed.”

He is saying: Don’t worry that the Day of the Lord is here.

Verse 3 gives the conditions for that day: the falling away and the revelation of the man of sin.

The passage DISTINGUISHES the Rapture “our gathering together unto him” from the Day of the Lord.

COMPLAINT
Paul is beseeching them by the rapture that they be not worried about the day of Christ BEING AT HAND (don't change that wording. It changes everything the passage is saying). For THAT DAY (day of the Lord) shall not come except the falling away or Departure happens first. The day of the Lord also can not come except the man of sin be revealed.

ANSWER
I will change the English translation if the Greek grammar demands it. I am not married to the KJV translation or any other English translation.

The verb is verse 2 is enesteken, the perfect of enistemi. Anyone can examine the fuller lexicons or dive into actual Koine usage or NT usage and see that the finite verb enesteken means "is here" or "is present" and its participle forms mean "here" or "present." The translation "at hand" is misleading if we think "over the horizon" but tolerable if we understand "on the doorstep." The context sides with the translation "present" or "here" for the context is the fact that the Thessalonians feared that the persecution they were enduring was the last days tribulation persecution. They thought they were in the tribulation (the day of the Lord). The translations of the modern versions which go down the path of "has come" are correct. They say essentially the same thing as "is present." If the day of the Lord has come, then it is here. The weakness of this translation is that it allows for the notion that the day of the Lord has come and gone, a notion which the Greek forbids.

The ellided verb in verse three must be supplied, and it ought to be supplied with the same tense and sense as verse two if we would follow the standard practice of Classical and Koine Greek. That means verse three should be "Let no man deceive you by any means for that day is not here unless the apostasy has first happened and the man of sin has been revealed." The translation of the perfect with present sense (is here) or the perfect sense (has come) as a future (shall not come) is a bad translation which gives a completely wrong sense.

Anyone actually familiar with Koine grammar in general and the usage of enesteken in particular will admit the force of what I have written. I have not changed the word of God. I have better translated it. The passage does not teach that the antichrist will precede the day of the Lord. The passage teaches that the antichrist is the preeminent sign that the world has entered the time of the dawning of the day of the Lord (the tribulation). If we honestly believe and practice the historical-grammatical hermeneutic, then let us follow correct Greek grammar, correct Greek verb translation, correct Greek ellipsis supply, and correct contextual analysis.

QUESTION
If we can eat any kind of meat in this age without restrictions, can we also eat blood? Is that restriction removed too?

ANSWER
No. The meat restrictions were part of the Mosaic Law given to Israel. Christians, that is, those who believe in the Messiah, are free from the law by dint of faith in Christ. They are no longer under the dietary restrictions of the Mosaic Law. The blood restriction, however, while mentioned in the OT, is not exclusively Mosaic Law but rather generic abomination. The bans on generic abominations are repeated in Acts 15 at the Jerusalem Council. These generic bans are still in effect.

When Does Wrath Begin?

The arrival of the fullness of wrath, or absolute wrath, occurs at the Second Coming. This is known as the great and terrible day of the Lord.

The entire Tribulation is the time of the dawning of wrath, the dawning of the Day of the Lord.

This period of time is characterized by the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:3) and the judgments of the book of Revelation. The Antichrist himself is a judgment. He characterizes the dawning of the Day of the Lord. He is a great delusion sent by God to condemn those who refuse to believe.

The Rapture is the morning star of the Day of the Lord. It is the first indication given to the world that the Day of the Lord is on the doorstep.

There is no devil, no power, no principality in the universe that can stand between you and what the Lord has called you to be and do, for it is God working in you to will and do his good pleasure." This serves as a reminder that your purpose and strength are supported by God's own work within you.

CHALLENGE TO MY POST ON SPIRITUALIZING SCRIPTURE BEING THE ULTIMATE TABOO FOR PROPHECY
Careful brother, Ruach is Spirit and opens the spiritual depths and application of the Word to us - as our Messiah promised. Fear Yah, do not lead people astray in this regard.

RESPONSE
Careful? The Holy Spirit will NEVER give someone an interpretation of Scripture that differs from what we would uncover using the historical-grammatical hermeneutic. An insight from the "Holy Spirit" which disagrees with the results of the historical-grammatical hermeneutic is an insight taught by a lying spirit pretending to be the Holy Spirit.

Love Sans Light?

Biblical love is essential, but love does not mean compromising truth.

The same God who commands us to love also commands us to “reprove, rebuke, exhort” with sound doctrine in 2 Timothy 4:2.

God is love and light (1 John 4:8; 1:5). We cannot have one while rejecting the other.

True love doesn't wink at sin or ignore falsehood. It speaks the truth, even when the truth is uncomfortable.

Love and light can be distinguished, but they cannot be divided.

COMMENT
The first five seals are not prophecies of specific future events but a record of human history. The first half of the Beast's reign will look like the millennial reign of Christ.

REPLY
This is actually funny. You can't believe this without watering down the seals. Moreover, this is just as wrong as taking the days of creation figuratively.

COOL THEORY
Hello my brother in Christ, We are NOT living in the Old Covenant. I came to a realization that the time of the End was the time of the Old Covenant Age. Jesus Fulfilled ALL that was written . Once you see it through a fulfilled lense , you won;t have to keep waiting for a Future END times. WE ARE in the NEW COVENANT in CHRIST !!!!! I HOPE and PRAY that you will SEE what JESUS showed me . The Kingdom of GOD IS WHITHIN US !!!! WE ALL Fell for the 1948 Bait.

ANSWER
I don't trust anything that people get from Jesus or the Holy Spirit. I only go with the word of God. Anything people get from Jesus or the Holy Spirit that contradicts the Bible is actually from fallen spirits pretending to be Jesus or the Holy Spirit.

Your assumptions are so far off that it is hard to wrap my mind around how you could possibly believe them.

First of all, no dispensationalist I know believes that we are in the Old Covenant times.

Secondly, the prophetic era is the Lord returning to the people under the Old Covenant to give them a second chance to embrace the New Covenant in Jesus and his blood. National Israel can only receive her national promises through Jesus and the new covenant.

Thirdly, the kingdom of God is not within us. This is a misinterpretation of a single verse that contradicts dozens of plain statements of Scripture. The kingdom is Jesus literally descending from heaven and literally smashing the entire planet starting with the literal battle of Armageddon.

Please Jesus. Give me some spiritual cocaine about the kingdom having come already so that I don't have to worry about the plain statements of Scripture which talk about a literal great tribulation, a literal antichrist, a literal mark of the beast, a literal Armageddon, and a literal absolute, world-smashing judgment at the second coming, and a literal kingdom here on earth ruled over by Jesus in the flesh in Jerusalem.

QUESTION
How can you see a pre tribulation rapture at the coming of the Lord?

ANSWER
The coming of the Lord has two aspects: the apantesis and the parousia. These are developed in 1 Thess. 4:13-18. Parousia was used as a technical term for the entrance of a king when he came for a royal visit. Apantesis was used as a technical term for the citizens going out to meet the king and accompanying him in his royal train. They often went out one, two, or even three days early to meet the king. The rapture is the apantesis of the parousia. The second coming is the parousia proper. This makes a clear temporal distinction between the rapture and the second coming, and makes equating them impossible.
