I find it interesting that error always finds it necessary to depart from a robust and consistent application of the historical-grammatical hermeneutic. They must indulge in things like allegorizing, hyper-literalizing, departure from basic grammar rules, and low-odds possibilities to make their interpretation work. And then they accuse the camp of truth of the very crimes they are guilty of.

Since we are fast approaching Easter Sunday, and the perennial question of the timing of the crucifixion and resurrection has come up once again, it is time to repost my video The Friday Crucifixion. This hews closely to the historical-grammatical hermeneutic and "it is written again." Folks often treat this subject with a proof text and speculation rather than a full biblical examination. The Bible answers this question β¦ if we let it.

Friday Crucifixion β Fact or Theory?
Was the Lord truly crucified on a Friday and raised early Sunday morning? Or is this just Catholic fiction? Is the Thursday to Sunday theory a more biblical option? Is the Wednesday to Saturday theory a better option? Let's find out by examining the Bibleβ¦

It is His sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection in which we place our faith, and those who have trusted Christ as Saviour, have been given the indwelling Holy Spirit as God's guarantee that they will also receive a resurrection body. Let us have this confidence in Christ today, for His resurrection identified Jesus of Nazareth as the Son of God.
The Resurrection verified the truth of Scripture and guarantees our own future resurrection. It gives power to our Christian life in this world and guarantees our future inheritance with Christ in heaven, to Whom be all praise and glory, through time and into eternity.

Exodus 14:12 β "For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness."
Some things never change. God's people in every age seem to be shortsighted, overweighting their current difficulties and underweighting God's past provisions.

Through Christ we have been released from a contractual bondage to the Law, having died to that by which we were bound so that in Christ we are set free to serve in newness of the Spirit and not bound to oldness of the letter.
Let us praise God with every breath of our being that in Him our sinfulness has died to the Law of sin and death, releasing us forever from its terrible power. Praise God that in Christ we have died to what held us in everlasting bondage so that we may serve our Saviour forever in newness of life, through the power of the indwelling Spirit.

A silent gospel and a hidden witness will not minister to those in the valley of decisions. Let us pray that God would send out labourers into the harvest~fields of souls that need to be saved by grace through faith in Christ, and let us ask God to bring into our lives people, with whom we can share the good news that: "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord, will be delivered ~ for how can they call on the Lord, in Whom they have not believed? And how will they believe in Him, Whom they have not heard? And how will they hear about His message of salvation without a preacher?"

I find it fascinating how error works. The same methods appear over and over again.
One common method is to propose a departure from a point held by most dispensationalists, claiming that men aren't paying attention to what the Bible says and insisting that their understanding is a vast improvement. When their position is strongly challenged by "it is written again" in the Bible, or grammatical facts, or historical facts, they don't do "iron sharpens iron." Instead, they refuse to be objective, maintain their point, charge the challenger with being too concerned about secondary points, and claim they are still saved no matter what.
Why the resistance to iron sharpens iron? Why start on the ground that the point is worth debating over, then jump to the ground that it isn't worth debating over?

May we never ever minimise the incredible sacrifice that Jesus made on our account, and the tremendous power that the blood of Christ has in the lives of all who trust in His redemptive work.
May we never diminish the inconceivable sacrifice the Lord Jesus gave, when He left His home in glory, made Himself a little lower than the angels on our account, and clothed Himself in mortal flesh, so that by the willing sacrifice of His sinless life.. we sinners might be declared righteous, in God's sight.

His office may be that of Christ, for He is the anointed of God. His title may be Lord, for He is high and lifted up and His train fills the temple. But His name shall be called Jesus, for He shall save His people Israel from their sins. And through Israel, all the families of the earth shall be blessed, for whosoever trusts in Jesus as Saviour, Jew or Gentile, male or female, old or young, slave or free, ALL have the right to become the children of God.

Only those that eschew evil and seek after good are the ones that have an inner, supernatural peace that flows from God, and enjoy peace with those that call on the Lord with a pure heart. Only those that live as Christ lived and who choose to walk in spirit and truth, through the power of the Holy Spirit, can resist the evil and pursue the good. Let us live as God intended all His children to live when He created us in His own image. Let us earnestly pursue righteousness, faith, and love, and live in peace with those that call on the Lord with a pure heart ~ for the honour of His holy name, and for our own eternal benefit.

Christ had glorified God throughout His life, by His miracles, by His ministry, by His grace, by living in humble obedience to the Father, and by submitting to the power of the Spirit, for He had laid aside His pre~incarnate glory. And as He faced the Cross, He prayed that His glory that was set aside to do the Father's will, would be restored. He prayed that the eternal glory He had with God the Father before the world began, would be returned to Him so that He might glorify His Father in heaven. Christ's sacrifice on the Cross had to come before His resurrected glory. The Cross had to precede the Crown for you and me to be redeemed. Let us seek to follow in the steps of the Master and embrace the Cross for His name's sake so that in the ages to come we may share in His glory.
