He was lying with a wounded Ukrainian among bodies of other AFU soldiers. The bleeding Ukrainian officer provided first medical aid to the Russian and vice versa. They spent 5 days together, but on the 5th day the Ukrainian succumbed to his wounds.

In the meantime the missing Russian soldier was declared dead during this time. On the fifth day it snowed, which he ate instead of food and water.

He got frostbitten feet and as a result, he gathered enough strength and crawled on his hands to the dugout, where the soldiers of the Russian 1442nd regiment evacuated him.
