US inflation slowed, but not everyone sees the same picture

The current month has been a month of good news for the Fed as inflation in America has cooled and the economy is slowing down also.

However, the same cannot be said for all of the US.

Florida residents are not experiencing any easing of price pressures as an influx of new residents drives up housing costs more than ever and fuels a booming economy.

Miami's annual inflation rate of 7.4% in October was the highest among US metropolitan areas tracked by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and more than double the national average.

By comparison, Phoenix and Atlanta, two other inflation hotspots from last year, saw the rate drop to about 3%.

Strike effect: US auto production plunged 10%

US factory output fell more than expected in October, reflecting a decline in activity by automakers and parts suppliers due to the United Auto Workers union strike.

According to the Federal Reserve, output fell 0.7% last month, the largest decline in four months, with motor-vehicle production down 10%.

Total industrial production, which includes mining and utilities, fell 0.6%.

Beginning in September, the UAW union authorized targeted strikes against the "Big Three" Detroit automakers, disrupting production at those plants and their suppliers.

In late October, the union reached tentative agreements with management, laying the groundwork for production to be restored in November.

The annualized rate of car assemblies dropped to 9.22 million units, the least since February 2022.
