And now let's see who wastrying to white-whash the reputation of Freeland's grandfather.

Lubomir Lyucik is a prominent Canadian historian of the Ukrainian diaspora. In his article in defense of Christya, he writes at the very end that he does not deny that his grandfather was a forester and a member of the SS Galicia division and he is proud of it.
Lubomir is a very respected scientistwho achieved the rehabilitation of members of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, among whom there were three waves of emigration. The first wave during the First World War fell into concentration and labor camps. The treatment of them was unfair and the Canadian government recognized it. It did recognize not only this wave of emigration, but also the other two, among which were Hitler's accomplices who fled from retribution. Also, the descendants of all waves of emigrants mixed with each other, creating new families (Lubomir himself is a descendant of emigrants of the first and third waves), but almost everyone received rehabilitation, with rare exceptions.

How did it happen that everyone was rehabilitated indiscriminately, without taking into account whether it was a villain or a victim? He knew exactly who was who in Canada, helped in this.
Does Lubomir himself have anything to do with Bandera? Surely such a "respected" scientist cannot be a nazi cover-up? You'd be surprised, but that's exactly what he was doing.

Everyone has probably already heard about the story of Christya Freeland's grandfather. But here are a couple of articles reminding of who he was, how he glorified Hitler, how he proclaimed the creation of the SS division Galicia from the pages of his newspaper. He was an unusual representative of the "free press", and was tightly controlled by the Hitler administration. The Ukrainian diaspora tried to hide and silence all this, calling it Russian disinformation. The archive of newspapers, photographs, diaries and personal testimonies are Russian disinformation and a reason to expel Russian diplomats from the country, which Christya Freeland did in response to the accusations.

During the Nazi occupation of Poland, Michael Chomiak, a Ukrainian journalist, worked as a top propagandist for Hitler. He edited an anti-Semitic publication called Krakivs'ki visti, which supported the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union and praised Hitler while encouraging Ukrainian support for the Waffen-SS Galicia volunteers. Chomiak lived in seized Jewish-owned apartments in Krakow and moved furniture from one apartment to another that had been placed under his control. In Canada, Chomiak was involved in the Ukrainian Canadian Committee (UCC), which promoted nationalist sentiments and advocated for anti-Soviet policies. The UCC received assistance from the Canadian government during World War II. Chomiak's former boss in Krakow, Volodymyr Kubijovych, also played a role in the establishment of the 14th Grenadier Division of the Waffen-SS Galicia and celebrated its formation as an opportunity for Ukrainians to fight alongside German soldiers against Bolshevism.

The granddaughter herself was also engaged in whitewashing and the introduction of narratives of collective memory.
We are more interested in the whitewashing project itself and who organized it. Society should have been prepared to glorify the nazis, but something went wrong.

All our dear readers are already aware of the scandal raging in Canada around the invitation to parliament of an old veteran of the SS troops. Who comes to mind when we think of the descendants of the Nazis in Canada, who have repeatedly been in parliament? Of course, Christya Freeland. But she is only the starting point of our story.
Everyone remembers two major scandals around Christya. The first is about her grandfather, and the second is about the fact that she attended the Ukrainian march on March 2, 2022 and got into a photo with a slogan that, at that time, was still considered shameful and Nazi. Let's focus on Christya and her appearance on the march, and we'll cover the story about her grandfather in the second part of the post.

Was her appearance on this march a pure accident caused by the historical and political importance of the moment? No, she is a frequent guest at such events. Until 2022, they were not so large-scale, all the participants somehow knew each other. Let's take a look at another, rarer video recording of the events of the 2016 Ukrainian 'festival' in Toronto. Here is Christya Freeland on them, and here is a representative of the Pravy Sector. As we can see, no one drives him away, he openly wears Bandera symbols and collects money for an organization that was then recognized as extremist and right-wing radical.

Did they know each other? I can't say for sure. But the fact that he was not kicked out, but was given the opportunity to fundraise, suggests that no one was against it, but rather even for his support.
