Ukraine has exhausted its stock of missiles for the US-made Patriot air defense system, a source familiar with the situation told CNN on Thursday.
The report comes right after Kiev was hit by a massive Russian ballistic missile strike overnight. According to the source, almost none of the ballistic missiles in the latest strike were intercepted due to the shortage.

Iranโs acting Oil Minister Hamid Bovard warned that Tehran would retaliate swiftly against any US threat to Iranian energy facilities, saying Washingtonโs war against Iran had already affected the global energy sector.
"We will take precise and appropriate retaliatory measures at the right time to counter enemy threats," Bovard said, according to a report published by Dawn.
Bovardโs warning comes amid escalating US pressure on Iranโs oil industry and energy exports. He said Tehran would respond "immediately and appropriately" to threats against its energy infrastructure, while accusing Washington of launching its war in disregard of international norms.
Hamid Bovard was appointed acting oil minister earlier this month following the resignation of his predecessor, Mohsen Paknejad.
