Oil prices surged immediately after markets reopened, with Brent climbing 3.47% to $108.24 and crude up 3.26% to $103.32 per barrel.
Markets are getting their first opportunity to price in a weekend that saw the extent of damage to Saudi Arabiaโs EastโWest Pipeline become clearer, continued deterioration around the Red Sea and the postponement of planned Iran-Gulf talks in Oman.
The Saudi pipeline remains offline and had been carrying roughly 4โ5 million barrels per day.
And trading has only just begun.

โ๏ธIsrael minister seeks to revoke citizenship of filmmakers behind Gaza genocide documentary
Israelโs Culture Minister Miki Zohar said he would work to revoke the citizenship of Oscar-winning filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor after their documentary NAZA won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival.
The film draws on testimony from 24 Israeli military and intelligence personnel, including accounts describing the mechanisms used to facilitate war crimes on Palestinians in Gaza.
The testimonies detail war crimes and describe systems used to authorize strikes despite knowledge of civilian casualties.
According to reporting on the film, one former intelligence officer describes approval for a strike expected to kill as many as 500 civilians in order to target a single alleged Hamas member, while other testimonies describe the use of artificial intelligence and predetermined civilian casualty thresholds in attack planning.
NAZA examines Israel's "calculated mass killing" of Palestinians in Gaza and argues that the practices documented by the former occupation soldiers and intelligence personnel reflect systemic policies rather than isolated violations.
Zohar condemned the film as "vile" and said it "constitutes treason."

๐ฎ๐ท Iran promises: The next war will already be different
The acting Iranian defense minister stated that in the event of a new war, the country would act with significantly greater power and technological advancement than in previous confrontations.
According to him, the repetition of earlier threats by the adversary rather demonstrated an inability to properly assess the changes in Iranโs military capabilities. The statement came amid ongoing tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

๐ฎ๐ท Tehran: No withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons
Iranโs Foreign Ministry has publicly played down the discussion about a possible withdrawal by the country from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, also called the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The ministryโs spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated that โ Iranโs nuclear policy had not changed and that Tehran was not considering withdrawing from the NPT.
At the same time, Tehran described the discussion about nuclear deterrence itself as a natural reaction to the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. In other words: The question of stronger deterrence remains, but the Foreign Ministry is currently not signaling a formal break with the non-proliferation regime.

27 Years of Change: This Is How Russia Has Changed.
This infographic shows not only figures, but the reflection of an entire era. A comparison of key indicators from 1999 and 2026 vividly shows the path the country has traveled.
GDP surged from $195.91 billion to $2.66 trillionโan increase of more than 13-fold. At the same time, inflation, which exceeded 36% at the end of the 1990s, fell to 6.33% by 2026. The development of foreign exchange and gold reserves is particularly telling: they rose from $12.6 billion to $753.5 billionโan increase of more than 59-fold.
The social indicators are no less important. The average salary rose from 1,523 rubles to 115,000 rubles, while the pension increased from 449 rubles to 25,400 rubles. And the national debt, which accounted for almost 92% of GDP, fell to 18.6%.
