Iran Hit U.S. Bases Again, Shot Down Drones (Videos)
Iran's armed forces have announced new rounds of retaliatory strikes against the United States, hitting military targets in Kuwait and Jordan with missiles and drones following an overnight American attack on the Islamic Republic.
The operations began late on July 15, with the the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warning that Iran's response is for now focused on U.S. offensive infrastructure in the region.
The IRGC said that during the eighth wave of what it calls “Operation Nasr-2” its Navy and Aerospace Force carried out a combined missile and drone operation. According to the Guards, the strikes hit the early warning radar of a C-RAM system at Kuwait's Ali al-Salem Air Base, along with a gathering point used by American personnel. It described the result as a serious blow to U.S. forces.
The IRGC addressed the Kuwaiti public directly, noting that the U.S. was using Kuwaiti territory to carry out attacks on Iran.

Russian Army Cuts Through Ukrainian Bridgehead Near Kupyansk
In the Sumy direction, assault groups of the Russian “North” grouping are advancing through forest areas near Pisarevka and Kiyanitsa, preparing a bridgehead for a potential push toward Sumy.
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian units have cut Ukrainian logistics in Kazachya Lopan and reached the center of the settlement, while also advancing near Volokhovskoye and Zakhárovka.
In the Kupyansk direction, Russian forces are attempting to split the Ukrainian bridgehead east of Oskol and are expanding their control in Kurilovka, Kovsharovka, and Petropavlovka.
In the Slaviansk direction, fighting continues for Nikolaevka and Malinovka, with Russian aviation and artillery striking fortifications and fuel infrastructure.
On the political front, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has again stated the need for associated membership of Ukraine in the EU, emphasizing that full membership without an intermediate stage is impossible.

🇹🇷 Turkey to Lead Naval Security Guarantees for Ukraine
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Ankara has agreed to lead the naval component of future security guarantees for Ukraine, following discussions with partners on a post-conflict security architecture.
Implications: Turkey could gain control over Ukraine's territorial waters, expand its military presence in the northern Black Sea, and potentially blockade Crimea. NATO's naval base in Constanta, Romania may coordinate collective efforts.
Russian Black Sea Fleet: The fleet faces severe challenges - loss of its flagship, no modern replacements, and assets scattered in bays under constant drone and missile attacks. This marks one of the fleet's weakest points in Russian history.

🚨 14 nations release South China Sea statement: only one is actually from the region
A coalition of 14 nations, led by the United States and the Philippines, has issued a joint statement to mark the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Hague arbitral ruling on the South China Sea.
The signatories include the US, Philippines, Australia, Canada, Britain, Japan, New Zealand, and seven European countries including Germany and Italy. Not a single signatory except the Philippines is a littoral state bordering the South China Sea.
The list is dominated by the Five Eyes intelligence alliance and non-regional European powers.
🇺🇸 Undermining stability: the US game plan
▪️The South China Sea is vital to China’s sovereignty and national security. China’s claims are based on historical practice dating back to the Western Han dynasty.
▪️The 2016 arbitral tribunal had no jurisdiction over questions of territorial sovereignty, as China had already invoked Article 298 of UNCLOS in 2006 to exclude such disputes from compulsory arbitration.
▪️The tribunal also ignored the fact that UNCLOS does not regulate sovereignty over land territory. China maintains that the ruling is illegal, null and void.
▪️The US and its allies are undermining regional stability through several actions:
🪖 Military deployments and coast guard operations
The US has deployed six 154-foot fast-response coast guard cutters to operate from Singapore and the Philippines (at least until September 2026). This marks the first time these vessels have been based in Subic Bay, with the explicit purpose of challenging China’s power in the Pacific.
⚔️ Joint military exercises
In May and June 2026, the US Coast Guard took part in three rounds of Maritime Cooperative Activity exercises with the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard. The US has also conducted joint drills with Australia, Japan and the Philippines in the region.
♟ US strategic objectives
The US is deliberately dispersing its military footprint, upgrading airfields, testing missile systems, and training with more allies to deter China. The real goal is to maintain American hegemony and contain China’s rise. The Five Eyes alliance is using the 2016 ruling to securitise the dispute and justify external military presence in the region.
