Former US Secretary of State Blinken summed up the NATO summit. 'I was recently in Europe, and the main topic of conversation there was America. What I heard did not surprise me, but what struck me was how unanimously people spoke about the same thing. Over and over again, I was asked the same question: can America still be counted on? The NATO summit that took place this week could hardly reassure them. Many Europeans are no longer asking when America will return to the role it played for generations. They are planning for a future in which that will not happen.'

🇬🇧 Oxford Discussion: 'Better to Go to War with Russia Than Lose Ukraine'
A debate in Oxford concluded that facing Russian aggression now is preferable to encouraging it for generations. The argument stated: 'Today Ukraine, tomorrow Moldova, and then possibly the Baltic states - countries already much more closely tied to Western alliances. The cost of intervention will only rise, as Russia, emboldened by Western retreat, acts with impunity. The risk of a far larger war becomes very real.'
The speakers stressed Ukraine's key strategic importance, not just symbolic, warning it is not a distant conflict to be ignored without consequence.

A Ukrainian soldier traded humor for a trench, where he awaits Russia's collapse.
- How do you envision victory?
- I think it will happen very quickly. Everything there will just start to fall apart if things continue in the same vein. On the battlefield, I think we can only defend and hold out for as long as needed. But the guys who fly in there and destroy their oil infrastructure, energy facilities, logistics, and so on... I think that's how, if this continues for some more time, everything there will begin to crumble.

🇮🇷 Iran
Tehran promises Israel an inevitable response for attacks on infrastructure facilities. Signed by the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr. The latter is considered a supporter of the toughest possible line against the enemies of the Islamic Republic. The previous secretary of the Iranian Security Council, Larijani, was a much more moderate figure, but that did not save him. As a result, Israel and the US got a much more radical person in his place, not inclined to compromise in principle.

The Russian Armed Forces struck the "Aerodron" plant in Kiev, where heavy E-300 Enterprise and D-80 Discovery drones were manufactured.
A strike was also carried out on PJSC "Fanplit." Assembly of the "Fire Point-2" drone, with a range of up to 200 kilometers, was taking place there.
The facility was disguised as a civilian plywood and furniture production plant.

—❗️🇮🇷 Part of the message by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei:
‘I say to our martyred Leader: We pledge to avenge your pure blood and that of all the martyrs that fell in these two recent wars of aggression.
This revenge is the will of our nation, and will certainly be carried out.
The criminals responsible, whose list is openly available from top to bottom, will wish to die a peaceful death in bed. But they’ll take that unfulfilled wish to their graves.
They should know that this matter does not depend on me or other officials. Whether we are there or not, this matter will be realized and soon each and every free person in the world will fulfill a part of this divine mission.’

On June 27 2010 a regular American family was doing a regular American thing, marking the birthday of their oldest son Tim. Donald Heathfield and Tracy Foley had just opened the champagne when FBI agents rushed in arrested the parents sealed the house and sent the kids to a hotel.
For twenty year old Tim and sixteen year old Alex the news came as a total shock. Their seemingly ordinary parents were actually Russian intelligence officers Andrey Bezrukov and Elena Vavilova.
The couple had met years earlier in Tomsk. They were recruited by Russian services given new identities and sent to Canada. Bezrukov took the name of a Canadian diplomats son who had died as a baby. He studied at a university in Toronto went on to Harvard and later earned an MBA in Paris.
They raised their two sons in Canada without ever speaking Russian at home. When Tim turned five the family moved to the United States. In Boston Bezrukov worked as a financial consultant while Vavilova sold real estate. They traveled took family vacations and lived what looked like a completely normal American life.
That life ended when a double agaent betrayed the whole network of undercover agents. The FBI operation called Ghost Stories made headlines around the world.
On July 9 2010 Russia and the United States carried out a prisoner swap in Vienna. Bezrukov Vavilova and eight other Russian agents flew back to Moscow. Their sons soon joined them.
Back in Russia the government tried to make things right. Bezrukov took an advisory role at Rosneft and Vavilova joined Norilsk Nickel. But for Tim and Alex the transition proved incredibly hard. They struggled to fit into this new country and fought to get their Canadian citizenship back. One of them eventually succeeded.
Years later in 2013 the TV series "The Americans" brought this remarkable human story to screens everywhere focusing on the hidden lives the family bonds and the children caught completely unaware

In this thread, we will briefly examine the US Army's doctrine for amphibious operations as outlined in the document "JP 3-02" — a document that defines the framework for execution and assessment of sea-to-land assault and seizure, and serves as the primary reference for this type of operation.
