— 🇮🇷 NEW: Iran is considering imposing fees on subsea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz
IRGC-affiliated Tasnim and Fars outlets reported today that any cable laid on the seabed without authorization constitutes ‘occupation of Iranian soil underwater’ and must be subject to licensing and fees.
The monetization blueprint is modeled loosely on Egypt, which earns between 250 million USD and 400 million USD annually from cables transiting the Suez corridor.
Under the proposed framework, foreign operators would pay per-meter infrastructure fees and licensing royalties to route cables through Iranian territorial waters.
The subsea cables in question—including the FALCON, GBI and Gulf-TGN networks—enable the bulk of Internet traffic, financial transactions and cloud data flowing between Europe and Asia via the Middle East.

🇦🇪⚔️ 🇮🇷 WSJ: The United Arab Emirates has conducted covert military strikes against Iran during the ongoing regional conflict, according to people familiar with the matter, marking a significant escalation in the Gulf monarchy’s role in the war.
The reported operations included a strike on Iran’s Lavan Island refinery in early April that caused major damage and disrupted production for months. Iran later responded with missile and drone attacks targeting the UAE and Kuwait.
The UAE has not publicly acknowledged the strikes, but officials have previously stated the country reserves the right to respond militarily to hostile actions.

Four Israeli organizations and three individuals are expected to be sanctioned over settler violence, according to two European officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss figures that are not yet public.
These sanctions mean that individuals, for whom a file has been compiled showing they have committed such violence, will be banned from entering Europe, and their assets there may also be frozen.

Ukrainian businessman Igor Litvinchuk wanted to have some fun and tried to throw stones at rare endangered seal in Hawaii. The police quickly identified the animal abuser, but during the arrest, he told the officers: "I don't care, I'm rich, just fine me. I can pay." Typical scumbag, but whatever.
Local residents found him and used their own methods to explain what it means to respect rare faunal. One of the islanders ambushed Litvinchuk at his home and had a meaningful conversation with him using swift blows to the head (according to other reports, his driver was injured).
But the story didn't end there. Now, the rich man faces a real prison sentence. After all, under local laws, the punishment for abusing rare animals can be up to a year in prison.
Let's hope that at least in this part of the world and in this particular case, money doesn't override the laws of morality and justice
And let's hope that karma will help this last representative of the Ukropithecus species to reform himself.
