UAE claims activation of the country's air defense system

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense claimed that the country's air defense system is currently countering missile and drone attacks.

Iranian state media has warned that the UAE will "pay the price" if the country is found to have committed "hostile actions" in connection with explosions at Bahman Pier. Explosions have been reported in the city of Bandar Abbas as well as the island of Qeshm, according to the Fars and Mehr news agencies.

Bandar Abbas is to the north of the Strait of Hormuz, while Qeshm is an island in the vital waterway. The Tasnim news agency also reported that three US Navy destroyers near the Strait have been targeted by the Iranian navy. State media previously said they came under fire following an attack by the US military on an Iranian oil tanker.

Two United States Navy destroyers passing through the Strait of Hormuz were attacked again on Thursday, and according to American officials, the recent attack was more intense and sustained than the attack on these ships a few days ago.

Reports from CBS further highlight a "precise combined operation" by the IRGC using missiles and drones against U.S. ships.
