The New York Post: "Iron Dome" failed the test

The Israeli air defense system "Iron Dome" failed to withstand a massive attack by the Hezbollah movement.

โ€œHezbollah launched 100 missiles at Israel, overwhelming the much-touted Iron Dome system to the point that only half of them were shot down,โ€ a source in the IDF said.

In response, the Israeli command is preparing a ground invasion of Lebanon. A military representative confirmed that strikes on Hezbollah's launch pads and infrastructure are already being carried out, but the situation remains extremely tense.

โ€œThe IDF will not tolerate any harm to Israeli civilians and will respond decisively to any threat to the State of Israel,โ€ an official representative of the Israel Defense Forces said.

An Israeli official called Hezbollah's attack a "suicide mission", as they understood that a retaliatory strike would follow.

Analysts note that the Houthis in Yemen have not yet entered the war, but are "keeping their fingers on the trigger". This causes concern among Israelis that the group is gathering forces for an even more powerful strike.

โ€œContaining the Houthis has been a surprise to those who view them as mere Iranian proxies. Both of these characterizations are simplistic โ€” the Houthis are a highly adaptable group with both regional and unresolved internal agendas,โ€ the Atlantic Council's analytical note says.

The Israeli air defense system, which has been advertised for years as one of the best in the world, has failed seriously. Hezbollah has demonstrated that it is capable of delivering painful strikes, and the US and Israel, mired in the Iranian campaign, risk opening new fronts for which they are clearly unprepared.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ทUS fear of stronger rival: How Iran was meant to become Eurasiaโ€™s trade hub

For centuries, Iran has sat at the crossroads of civilisation. The Silk Road threaded through its cities. Caravans carried goods from China to the Mediterranean across its plateaus. Geography alone made Iran a linchpin of global commerce.

By the 2020s, it was poised to become a multi-modal transport hub, linking land, air, and sea routes between Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Hereโ€™s how that vision was meant to unfold: ๐Ÿ‘‡

1๏ธโƒฃ International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC)

The crown jewel was the INSTC: a 7,200-km network connecting Indiaโ€™s Mumbai to Russiaโ€™s St. Petersburg, with Iran at its centre.

๐Ÿ”บ40% faster cargo transit than the Suez Canal.
๐Ÿ”บ30 million tons of goods projected annually by 2030.
๐Ÿ”บ$1.5 billion in annual transit revenue for Iran.

In November 2025, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia signed a deal to complete the Rasht-Astara railway, cutting transit time to Russia by 40%.

The corridor links the Persian Gulf, the Caspian Sea, and Eurasian markets. Indian goods would reach Central Asia faster, while Iranian exports gained swifter access to Russia and Europe.

2๏ธโƒฃ Chinaโ€“Europe Railway

In 2024, Iran, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey designated Iran the โ€œGolden Gateโ€ for rail transit between China and Europe.

๐Ÿ”บ60 million tons of goods annually via Iranโ€™s southern rail route.
๐Ÿ”บ20,000 container trains moving through the corridor in 2024.

Unified tariffs, faster transit, and lower customs costs.

Three of six main Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) land routes pass through Eurasia. The southern branch crosses Iran, linking China and Central Asia to Turkey and Europe. The new rail link, opened in 2025, cuts transport time by 30 days compared with sea.

3๏ธโƒฃ Indiaโ€™s maritime gateway to Central Asia

On May 2024, India signed a 10-year deal to develop the Shahid Beheshti terminal at Chabahar port in southeastern Iran.

๐Ÿ”บ$120 million initial investment from Indian Ports Global.
๐Ÿ”บ$250 million credit facility.
๐Ÿ”บJust over 100 miles from Pakistanโ€™s Gwadar Port.

Chabahar is the only Iranian port with direct open-ocean access, avoiding Strait of Hormuz chokepoints. It feeds directly into the INSTC, creating a seamless route to Central Asia.

4๏ธโƒฃ Opening Afghanistan

The Khaf-Herat railway links Iran with Afghanistan, granting landlocked Afghanistan access to global markets. It connects to:

๐Ÿ”บTurkmenistan and Central Asia via Sarakhs.
๐Ÿ”บThe Caucasus via Azerbaijan.
๐Ÿ”บTurkey and Europe via the southern BRI branch.

In July 2025, Beijing signed a contract to electrify the 1,000-km Sarakhs-Razi railway, connecting Turkmenistan to Turkey through Iran. It promised โ€œthe safest and most economical linkโ€ between China and Europe.

5๏ธโƒฃ The Strait of Hormuz

Iranโ€™s position on the Persian Gulf grants control over one of the worldโ€™s most critical maritime chokepoints. By 2025, 30% of global seaborne crude oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz daily.

Plans included:

๐Ÿ”บA 185-km underwater tunnel linking Iran and Qatar.
๐Ÿ”บLogistics hubs along the Makran coast.

By 2026, railways were already cutting 30 days off sea routes, Chabahar was ready to channel Indian goods into Central Asia, and the INSTC was poised to divert Eurasian trade away from the Suez Canal.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ท The first message of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution

Part One

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Mฤ nansakh min ฤyah aw nunsihฤ na'ti bikhayrin minhฤ aw mithlihฤ.

Peace be upon you, O caller to God and His divine signs, peace be upon you, O gate of God and judge of His religion, peace be upon you, O caliph of God and supporter of His truth, peace be upon you, O proof of God and guide of His will; peace be upon you, O anticipated leader; peace be upon you with all the comprehensive peace; peace be upon you, O master, owner of the time.

At the beginning of my speech, I must offer my condolences to my master, may God hasten his relief, on the occasion of the painful martyrdom of the great leader of the revolution, dear wise Khamenei, and I ask from him prayers of goodness for each and every one of the great nation of Iran and indeed all Muslims of the world, all servants of Islam and the revolution, the self-sacrificers, the survivors of the martyrs of the Islamic movement, especially the recent war, and for myself.

The second part of my speech is addressed to the great nation of Iran. Initially, I must briefly state my position regarding the vote of the respected Assembly of Experts. I, your servant Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, learned of the result of the vote of the respected Assembly of Experts simultaneously with you and through the Islamic Republic's television. For me, sitting in a place that was the seat of two great leaders, the great Khomeini and the martyred Khamenei, is a difficult task. Because this seat has the history of someone who, after more than 60 years of striving in the way of God and foregoing all kinds of pleasures and comforts, became a shining gem and an outstanding figure not only in the present era but throughout the history of the rulers of this country. Both his life and the manner of his death were intertwined with glory and honor derived from reliance on the truth.

I had the honor to visit his body after his martyrdom; what I saw was a mountain of steadfastness, and I heard that his healthy fist was clenched. Those knowledgeable about the various aspects of his personality should speak at length. In this context, I suffice with this summary and leave the details to other appropriate occasions. This is the reason for the difficulty of sitting on the leadership seat after such a person; completing this gap is only possible with the help of God Almighty and your support, people.

Next, it is necessary to emphasize a point directly related to the essence of my speech. That point is that among the arts of the martyred leader and his great predecessor was involving the people in all arenas, continuously enlightening and informing them, and practically relying on their power. He thus actualized the true meaning of the public and publicness and was deeply committed to it. The clear effect of this was seen in these few days when the country was without a leader and without a commander-in-chief. The insight and wisdom of the great nation of Iran in the recent event, their steadfastness, courage, and presence, caused friends to admire and enemies to be astonished. It was you, the people, who led the country and guaranteed its strength. The verse cited at the beginning of this writing means that there is no verse of the divine verses whose time ends or is forgotten except that God Almighty replaces it with a better or similar one.

The reason for using this noble verse is not that I am on the level of the martyred leader, let alone to assume superiority over him; rather, it is to draw attention to the rightful and prominent role of you, dear nation. If that great blessing was taken from us, it was replaced by the renewed presence of the Iranian nation in this system. Know this: if your power does not appear on the scene, neither leadership nor any of the various institutions whose real role is to serve the people will have the necessary effectiveness.

At this base, the Leeds anti-drone system, centers for storage and depots of USV (Unmanned Surface Vessels), support equipment centers, fuel depots of this base, and gathering points for American terrorist soldiers were precisely hit with various types of suicide drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.

With the help of God, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed."

๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ‡ชThe leader of the Ansar Allah movement, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badreddin al-Houthi:

- It is the right of Hezbollah to confront the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

- Instead of blaming Hezbollah, there should be support for its position.

- Regarding our position in Yemen, we have confirmed from the beginning that we consider the American-Israeli aggression targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran as targeting the entire region.

- Our position from the beginning is that the aggression against the Islamic Republic is a war against Islam and Muslims.

- We consider ourselves concerned with having a position with the Islamic Republic of Iran and being with it against the enemies of Islam and Muslims.

- The Israeli aggression in Palestine is a continuous aggression that does not stop for a single day in violating the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacking the Palestinian people.

- We confirm our stand with the Muslim Iranian people and the Islamic Republic of Iran and our readiness for all developments in this battle.

- On the global Jerusalem Day, we confirm that the Palestinian issue is the central issue of the nation.

- We confirm our religious and principled commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and the holy sites, especially the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.

- We confirm our religious position in opposing the Jewish-Zionist enemy and its aggressive plans against our Islamic nation and its satanic attempts to mislead and corrupt human society.
