🪂🇬🇧🇫🇷British and French airborne units are practicing joint deployment for a possible landing in Ukraine

More than 600 servicemen 🇬🇧of the 16th Air Assault Brigade of the British Armed Forces (including the 2nd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment and reconnaissance units) and 🇫🇷the 11th Parachute-Airborne Brigade of the French Armed Forces from February 24 to March 3 are conducting the exercise Exercise Orion to prepare for a possible peacekeeping (stabilization) mission in Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire/peace agreement.

The scenario envisaged providing support to a NATO ally 🚩 "faced with the threat of invasion and an insurgent movement" (⁉️).

The maneuvers include:
◾️Covert landing of reconnaissance and airborne troops from A400M cargo aircraft.
◾️Destruction of enemy air defense systems.
◾️Marking the landing zone for the main forces.
◾️Seizing and holding positions.
◾️Repelling attacks, ambushes, offensive actions.
◾️Establishing defensive infrastructure.
◾️Dropping supplies by A400M aircraft.
◾️The exercises also included testing new communication systems, integrating drones and "hybrid" networks.

✨Somehow, the peacekeeping goals don't really fit with the elements of the exercises, which involve the actions of advance groups on enemy territory (not an ally❗️) to ensure the conditions for the arrival and deployment of the main forces, which clearly have an offensive character.
