🇮🇷 🇺🇸Trump’s Iran playbook weighs striking Supreme Leader

A “decapitation strike” is one of several options that Trump has for how to hit Iran, reports Politico. Iran’s elderly Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, could be targeted, it cites a US official as saying.

🔊 The US could aim for multiple layers of the government, including the top ranks of the powerful IRGC, added the insider.

The publication acknowledges, however, that Iran’s governing system is designed to have people “step into higher roles when those are vacated.”

👉 Earlier, The NYT cited anonymous senior Iranian officials as saying that Ayatollah Khamenei has instructed the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani and a handful of other political and military associates to ensure continuity in case of any US or Israeli bombs assassination attempts on its top leadership.

Trump’s threats against Iran have included “new leadership” rhetoric, with the Islamic Republic responding by warning that any US strike will bring a “harsh response.”

🇺🇸🇮🇷 US makes severe ‘nuclear’ demands of Iran at Geneva talks

The list of demands US negotiators were expected to deliver to Iran, according to the US officials cited by Wall Street Journal, includes:

🌏 Dismantling the three main nuclear sites in Iran - Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan

🌏 Delivering all of the enriched uranium Iran has to the US

Iran, however, insists that it has the right to enrich uranium, while at the same time displaying willingness to limit the threshold of the enrichment to as low as 1.5%.

The negotiations in Geneva have been suspended and are expected to resume later tonight as the US and Iranian delegations needed to consult their respective superiors.
