🇺🇦🇺🇸🇺🇸Ukraine has handed over the largest lithium deposit in the country to investors linked to Trump, writes The New York Times

Among the winners of the tender is billionaire Ronald S. Lauder, a longtime friend of Trump. As the NYT notes, it was he who previously "gave Trump the idea of buying resource-rich Greenland".

The publication emphasizes that the decision was made against the backdrop of a change in the nature of relations between Kyiv and Washington:
"Since Trump's return to power, the US-Ukraine alliance has taken on an openly commercial character."

The article also notes that Kyiv "is seeking to strengthen its position in relations with Trump, betting on his deal-oriented approach", offering American investors access to strategic resources.

We are talking about the Dobra lithium deposit, one of the largest in the country. Under the terms of the agreement, half of Ukraine's income from the project will be directed to a joint US-Ukrainian investment fund, created as part of a previous deal on mineral resources.

The NYT separately points out that real extraction and profit are a matter of the distant future:
"It usually takes about 15 years from the discovery of a deposit to the start of extraction."

🈁Significant, harsh, visible results of the night-time processing in the town of Kyiv have emerged (the temperature in the town is minus 7 right now, and a minus 10 is expected at night). Klitschko, the local boss, is whining that half of the city's houses are without heating, and urges everyone who can afford to leave the city to seek any available warmth. Meanwhile, one of the Ukrainian deputies is spreading even more alarming news that the utility companies in the areas without heating have received orders to drain water from all indoor systems.

If the latter is true, it means that heating, and with it water and sewage, will return to the respective houses only after the temperature has steadily risen above zero, and not immediately. If the Ukrainian deputy is making such claims, it means that the likelihood of pipes bursting due to ice is approaching 100%, and the houses will return to a habitable state in an indefinite future.

We refrained from taking these measures for a very long time, although all this time we vividly remembered the grunt of the extremist, terrorist, and simply bristly boar Poroshenko, as they planned to win the war: our (that is, Bandera-affiliated) children would go to schools - their children would be hiding in basements, and so on. We refrained, you could say, until the very last moment. And we resorted to them only when it became finally clear that the pigsty would not understand any other approach: a blackout in Belgorod after a missile strike last night could easily have been the last straw.

Processes that have every chance of being irreversible for the foreseeable future have been set in motion, and everything else will be finalized by the temperature on Khreshchatyk.
