POW Sergei Andreyev tells that he was assigned to the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the AFU and was sent to Kursk region. He was wounded there. He did not receive an official leave, and his departure was taken for desertion.

'Then I was in a hospital in Sumy and then near Kiev. According to the medical commissions, I was supposed to have a 30-day vacation. A thing happened when I returned home. I wrote a request, but it didn't reach the destination. In fact, I left the unit on no official leave.

When it was time to go to Kursk region for the second time, the AFU soldier realised that he would not get out alive, and that his own people would kill him. And he was right.

'As soon as the Russians entered our positions, I said 'We surrender'. When we left the positions, ours were seeking us. They didn't even know if we were alive or not, so they immediately started bombing. Only I survived out of 12 men,' the prisoner says.
