🇺🇸🇺🇦 A Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet that crashed on Monday was likely not shot down by a Patriot missile defense system. This was reported by The New York Times, citing senior U.S. military officials.
"Two senior American military officials stated that friendly fire was likely not the cause of the F-16 downing, and that American and Ukrainian investigators are considering various possibilities. These could include factors such as mechanical failure or pilot error," the article says.
"Many factors could have led to the loss of the F-16, including the technical condition of the aircraft, pilot error, or external factors," said Mr. Khrapchynsky, a former member of Ukraine's Air Force.
For example, according to him, it is possible that fragments of a destroyed missile could have struck a critical part of the aircraft.

Russia slams “provocative nature” of NATO-aligned military base in Lithuania
The construction of a military base in Lithuania for the possible deployment of Bundeswehr soldiers is seen as a provocative act due to the increase in NATO's military capabilities near Russia's borders, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier in August, media reported that Lithuania had begun construction of a military base, with 4,000 Bundeswehr soldiers to be stationed there by the end of 2027.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces are advancing on Selidovo. Strategically, the most threatening situation is developing for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area. From this settlement, a road opens to the southwest - bypassing the rear of the entire second line of defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the west of Donetsk, which relies on Ukrainsk, Gornyak and Kurakhovo.
