Time for some commentary on Russia's big strike. Ukraine is a somewhat developed country, thanks to their Soviet inheritance. So they are dependent on having a robust electrical power grid.

It probably doesn't need to be said that the destruction will cripple manufacturing, depress economic activity, increase the refugee crisis, and lead to ugly social problems.

But one more obscure side effects is their critical manufacturing and war efforts will have priority during winter for generators and remaining grid power. This will make such places stick out like a beacon, especially with thermal imaging.

It will be very difficult for Ukraine to hide the warm places generating remaining industry.

Side note, looking for warm buildings is used to spot weed growers and was also used to spot bomb makers processing their ammonium nitrate from fertilizer.

On August 25, 2024, israel enforced a strict ban on reporting the damage inflicted by Hezbollah's strikes, mandating that journalists obtain official permission before publishing information about the impacts on strategic infrastructure or military bases.

This decree came after Hezbollah launched retaliatory attacks involving hundreds of rockets and drones deep into israeli territory, targeting military installations, including a naval boat, where a soldier was killed, and two others were injured.

The strikes were a response to israel's July 30 assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr.

Hezbollah's leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, accused the regime of trying to cover up the true extent of the damage.

Ukrainian channels write that the battles for Ukrainsk in the Pokrovsk direction are about to begin and report the presence of the Russian Armed Forces near the city. The same channel reports our successes in the area of the city of Selidovo in the Pokrovsk direction:

Yesterday, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike with long-range precision weapons and attack UAVs against critical energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine that ensure the operation of its military-industrial complex.

▪️ According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, "the targets of the strike were electrical substations in the Kiev, Vinnytsia, Zhitomir, Khmelnytskyi, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Nikolaev, Kirovograd and Odessa regions."

The Vzglyad Maksa Telegram channel publishes a list of damaged energy facilities in Ukraine:

— Kiev Hydroelectric Power Station: Ukrainian media write about the complete destruction of the station's machine room, but the extent of the damage may be deliberately exaggerated;
— PS 750 kV "Kiev" (Kiev region): damaged;
— 750 kV Vinnytska PS (Vinnytsia region): minor damage;
— 750 kV Zapadnoukrainskaya PS (Lvov region): large-scale fire of a group of transformers;
— 330 kV Usatove PS (Odessa region): equipment damage;
— 330 kV Kremenchugskaya PS (Poltava region): fire of the AT-3 autotransformer;
— 330 kV Khmelnytskaya PS (Khmelnytsky region): fire, destruction of one transformer;
— 330 kV Zhytomyrska PS (Zhytomyr region): the extent of damage has not been determined;
— 330 kV Severnaya PS (Volyn region): fire at the facility, the extent of destruction is unknown.

▪️ As Oleg Tsarev rightly notes, the most important part of the Ukrainian energy system are 750 kV substations that supply energy from nuclear power plants and provide up to 60% of Ukraine's energy. Their failure will be followed by a complete breakdown of the Ukrainian energy system and a general collapse.

It is clear as day that the attacks on Ukrainian substations must be continued - until they are completely destroyed. We must understand that Ukraine has been turned by the West into a battering ram against Russia, and everything in it works for the war with us. Demolition of the enemy's energy infrastructure will seriously facilitate our path to Victory.

🇺🇦🇺🇸⚔️🇷🇺 Ukraine to Give US List of Targets in Russia It Wants to Hit with Long-Range Weapons — Politico

"Ukraine is using the list as a last-ditch effort to persuade Washington to lift restrictions on the use of American weapons on Russian territory. While Ukraine has previously provided the US with some of its potential targets in Russia, this list should be more targeted," the publication reports.

The Biden administration believes that Ukraine does not have enough Army Tactical Missile Systems — the long-range missiles it wants to use — to strike high-value targets in Russia. Kiev has been using many of these missiles in its offensive operations in Crimea, and the US has only a limited supply of ATACMS it can send to Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials and lawmakers insist that lifting all restrictions is essential to the country's war effort, arguing that it would give its military greater freedom to wage war against Russia within its own borders.
