• Equity Mutual Fund Inflows: In December 2024, equity mutual funds in India saw a 15% increase in inflows, totaling ₹41,156 crore, up from ₹35,943 crore in November.
• Small-Cap and Mid-Cap Funds: Small-cap funds experienced a 4.3% rise in inflows, while mid-cap funds saw a 13.5% increase. In contrast, large-cap funds had a 21% decline in inflows.
• Sectoral and Thematic Funds: These funds attracted substantial investments, with inflows doubling month-on-month to ₹15,332 crore, aided by the launch of 12 new funds during the month.
• Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs): Contributions reached a record high of ₹26,459 crore in December, marking the 17th record high in 18 months.
• Overall Mutual Fund Industry: Despite positive trends in equity funds, the industry recorded a net outflow of ₹80,509 crore in December, primarily due to withdrawals of ₹1.27 lakh crore from debt funds. Total Assets Under Management (AUM) decreased by 1.7% to ₹66.9 lakh crore from ₹68.1 lakh crore in November.
