Enemy air defence worked on "Geraniums" in #Nikolayev, #Kirovograd, #Vinnitsa and #Cherkassy regions. The enemy is systematically being destroyed by FABs on the enemy bank of the #Dnieper and on the line of contact on the #Zaporozhye front.

▪️ The main events were unfolded on #Kazatsky Island, where the AFU began to equip positions near the riverbed. However, a Russian reconnaissance group conducted a successful sortie on #Kazatsky, taking two militants prisoner.
▪️ The rest of the 131st Reconnaissance Battalion escaped to the northern part of the island and took up a circular defence. The evacuation group transferred reinforcements by boat, and on the way back to #Nikolayevka was sunk by artillery.
❗️The activity of the AFU on the islands against the background of strengthening the grouping of troops in this direction is not surprising. By the time the Marine Corps is deployed to force the #Dnieper, the AFU must have a firm bridgehead on the left bank.

Explosions were heard in #Kiev, #Nikolayev, #Izmail, Belgorod-Dnestrovskyy, #Orlovka in the #Odessa region, near which there is a ferry crossing of the #Danube, #Zhitomir, #Khmelnitsky, #Cherkassy, #Kirovograd and #Dnepropetrovsk regions.
▪️ On the #Zaporizhzhya front the AFU tried to break through between #Rabotino and #Novoprokopovka with the forces of up to one motorized infantry platoon. One armoured vehicle was destroyed, the enemy infantry was dispersed by artillery fire. Between #Rabotino and #Kopani the enemy tried to break through the defence of our troops in several waves, heavy fighting is going on.
▪️ In the #Kherson direction, the AFU are holding, at the cost of constant losses, narrow sections of the coastal strip near the #Antonovsky and Railway bridges (our heavy flamethrower systems and aviation are constantly working on them), as well as on #Kazatsky Island against Novaya Kakhovka. Two Marine brigades transferred to the region are being replenished with personnel, and they report the presence of a significant number of pontoon crossings in the region (previously supplied from #Germany). The enemy is hatching plans to rush to occupy the islands and push through the defence of the RF Armed Forces with "meat assaults", trying to cut off our troops in the southwestern part of the region along the Novaya Kakhovka - #Perekop line.
▪️ From the southern flank of #Artyomovsk they report heavy fighting near #Andreyevka: the enemy threw up to one battalion of infantry into the battle, supported by artillery. Our troops are holding defence near the railway, meeting the enemy with fire from aviation, artillery and kamikaze UAVs.

❗️According to the plans of the Ukrainian command, the basis for a strike in the #Kherson region will be a strike group under the conventional name "Katran". It is for them that a bridgehead is being prepared in the island zone of the #Dnieper.

The truth is hidden by the fog of war. We know about the enemy's attacks at the #Kopani - #Rabotino line. Our forces are engaged in heavy defensive battles, occasionally launching counterattacks. AFU attempts to attack northwest of #Verbovoye failed, ours covered the group with artillery.

🔹In #Kherson Direction, the AFU hold small sections of the coastline near #Antonovsky Bridge, while ours hit them with artillery. The AFU also remains active on #Kazatsky Island.
🔹In #Zaporozhye Direction, the frontline is generally unchanged. From one side comes info that the AFU is exerting serious pressure, from the other that our forces take the initiative. The truth is hidden by the fog of war. We know about the enemy's attacks at the #Kopani - #Rabotino line. Our forces are engaged in heavy defensive battles, occasionally launching counterattacks. AFU attempts to attack northwest of #Verbovoye failed, ours covered the group with artillery.
🔹In #SouthDonetsk Direction, our forces try to take the initiative, but the AFU fights stubbornly. Near #Urozhaynoye, positions are changing hands, fights continue. No changes near #Priyutnoye, and near #Ugledar ours destroyed a tank south of #Novomikhaylovka and an IFV near Yuzhnodonbasskaya-1 mine.

🔹In #Kherson region the situation remains the same. Ukrainian formations are preparing for active actions on the left bank. The intensity of shelling does not decrease, but only increases.
▪️ And now for the first time in a long time the artillery units of the AFU have started to hit bridges and crossings, as it was last year during the offensive on #Kherson. Over the past 24 hours, a bridge to Novaya Kakhovka near the village of #Tsukury came under attack, including from HIMARS.
▪️ Also under fire cover continues the transfer of sabotage groups to the island zone. The enemy's SRGs are setting up positions and trying to expand the zone of control.
▪️ For two days Russian fighters destroyed four Ukrainian boats. One, near the island #Pereyaslavsky (#Kazatsky), three - after leaving #Nikolskoye. One more boat was sent back.
❗️At the same time, Territorial Defence and Marine assault groups are being assembled in the rear areas. One of the Battalions of 121st Territorial Defence Brigade was sent to #Respublikanets, which may indicate possible attacks on the left bank in that area.
▪️ In addition, light-engine boats are being actively transported from #Nikolayev to the vicinity of #Kherson. They were run-in on water bodies in the #Nikolayev region, and now they are being manned by brigades of marines.

🔹 In the afternoon, 2 assault groups of the 35th and 36th Marine Brigades continued the attack along the railway bridge. Supported by artillery and FPVs, they took #Poyma village.
▪️ The enemy took up defence, and according to some reports, after reinforcements arrived, they reached the northern outskirts of #Peschanovka, taking several houses.
▪️ Artillery struck the clusters, causing AFU losses. Some of the seriously wounded were evacuated to the northern island part. However, the situation in #Poyma and #Peschanovka remains a mystery due to the "fog of war".
🔹 On the other side near #Sadovoye and #Pridneprovskoye the 501st and 1st Battalions of 36th Separate Marines Brigade (up to 300 militants) are preparing to force the #Dnieper, with the task to take #Peschanovka and reach #Podstepnoye.
▪️ North of #Kazatsky and #Melky islands, several more Ukrainian Navy assault groups are preparing to attack the Cossack Camps - #Krynki line. All day on 17 October, weapons and ammunition were transferred from the #Ingulets area.
❗️The tactical success of the 36th Separate Marines Brigade's assault squads creates preconditions for a more active entry of the Katran Strike Group into the fighting in the #Kherson direction.
▪️ This is indirectly confirmed by the movement of counterbattery weapons to the contact line, such as the Cobra and AN/TPQ-36 radars, as well as Bukovel EW stations, which, as a rule, are kept at a distance due to their value.
📌 And the question arises how such a breakthrough could get into two populated areas. We have been writing for several months that there is a bridgehead of Ukrainian forces in the island zone and in some areas on the left bank of the #Dnieper, but no action has been taken. I would like to think that the threat is now being taken more seriously.
