🫶 Readovka's Military Correspondent Maxim Dolgov visited the recruits of the Bogdan Khmelnitsky Battalion, created on the basis of the OBTF "Kaskad". There he talked to a fighter with the call sign "Shum", who has lived in #Mariupol all his life and joined the AFU as a conscript. After captivity, Shum went through filtration and became a serviceman of the Russian army. He told our war correspondent about the deplorable situation in the enemy army, as well as about the lack of awareness about the real situation at the front among ordinary AFUshniks. The situation is so bad that Shum's fellow countrymen who are captured think that #Mariupol is still under the control of 404. Simply put, the choice for the fighter was obvious.

⚔️ Situation on the Fronts over the past Day

🔹#Svatovo - #Kremennaya Direction:

▪️ In the #Kupyansk sector, the Russian army has advanced in the area of #Petropavlovka and #Sinkovka. In addition, there are successes near #Makeyevka.
▪️ There are counter battles in the #Serebryanskoye forest.

🔹#Donetsk Direction:

▪️ In the #Avdeyevka sector, the AFU counterattacked north of the Coke Plant. Meanwhile, our fighters continue to storm enemy positions south of #Avdeyevka, near #Severnoye and #Pervomayskoye.
▪️ In #Maryinka there is fighting on the western outskirts.

🔹#Zaporozhye Direction:

▪️ The AFU tried to break through our defence near #Rabotino, but were punished by Russian artillery. In addition, the enemy unsuccessfully attacked near #Novoprokopovka and #Verbovoye.
▪️ On the #Vremyevka ledge positional battles.

💥 During a Night Strike on the airfield in #Mirgorod, a Ukrainian Su-27 was hit.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦🔎 What Results the AFU Achieved in Five Months of Offensive⚡️

⚔️Active combat operations began on 4 June. At the moment, the AFU offensive has not stopped, but it is clear that it is losing momentum and is being maintained more to create visibility than to achieve real goals.

🔹What was the Offensive Plan?

▪️Initially, the AFU command planned to launch two dissecting strikes and reach two major cities, #Melitopol (and further to #Berdyansk) and #Mariupol on the coast of the Azov Sea.

▪️It was assumed that in the course of the offensive the territory with a total area of about 23,000 km2 would be captured, and in a number of directions, including the Crimean and Donetsk ones, the threat of encirclement of Russian troops would be created.

▪️In reality, a competently constructed line of defence and redesigned fire tactics prevented the AFU from succeeding.

▪️At the moment, the total area of territory in which the AFU has managed to advance is about 140 km2 in the #Zaporozhye direction and 116 km2 in the #SouthDonetsk direction, which is almost 90 times less than it was supposed to occupy during the offensive.

🔹What other Problems does the AFU have?

▪️In addition to problems with the failure to fulfil the offensive's main objectives, there are others. On 4 September, former Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that each day of combat operations costs Ukraine $100 million.

▪️Thus, 153 days (five months) of the offensive cost Kiev $15.3bn, but this money did not bring results. It is noteworthy that almost immediately the previously created myth about the superiority of the AFU, NATO tactics and technical superiority collapsed. Most of the expectations from the nature of the AFU actions simply did not realise.

▪️If the offensive had been successful, a number of #EU countries and the US would most likely have continued or increased the supply of military equipment. Now that almost all available conventional weapons options,- from small drones to man-portable air defence systems, have been tried, many have lost enthusiasm to continue deliveries.

▪️In addition, favourable timing has been lost. In the winter of 2022 and spring of 2023, much expectation was placed on warm season warfare. It was thought that summer and warm weather would favour the AFU offensive, but this did not happen.

🔹What losses did the AFU suffer?

▪️On 30 October, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu said that the AFU had lost more than 90,000 people killed and wounded during the offensive. These are 36 brigades of 2.5 thousand men each. No other army in the world has suffered such losses since World War II. The fleet of foreign equipment supplied to the AFU has been largely confused. The experience of using American M2 Bradley BMPs, M113/YPR-765 and M1126 Stryker APCs, Leopard 2A4/A5 (Strv 122)/A6 and Challenger 2 tanks, PzH-2000, M109 and AS-90 UASs has shown that Western combat vehicles cannot fundamentally change the situation on the battlefield, while their destruction and damage have an immediate and negative impact on the situation at the front.

🔹What's the Result?

▪️In addition, the failure of the AFU offensive has caused a split in the once united camp of #Ukraine's supporters. In the US, congressmen are asking questions about the prospects for aid to Kiev, while in #Europe some countries have already suspended or stopped military supplies to #Ukraine, among them #Slovakia and the main military donor in #Europe, #Poland.

▪️Also, five months of intense fighting have depleted the stockpiles of arms and ammunition not only in #Ukraine, but also in the #EU, from where they were forcibly transferred in the spring of 2023. The EU will be able to replenish reserves to the level of 2022 not earlier than 2025. In the short term, therefore, one cannot count on increased supplies, and without them, the prospects for any offensive actions in 2024 look very illusory.

🔹1. We had success in the industrial zone (Promka - industrial zone of the colony), which is to the right of the well-known AFU checkpoint No. 1 on the Ring Road towards #Yasinovataya. Well done, we took a serious fortification, from where a lot of things flew at #Donetsk.

🔹2. If we take the Coke Plant, we can send warm greetings to #Avdeyevka. To keep people there for the APU would simply mean killing personnel. But they do not care about. The enemy did the same in #Bakhmut, sending people to slaughter in packs. By the way, they had a 50,000 strong group there, and Wagner with 25-30 thousand fighters worked against them.

🔹3. Basic military truth: if you find yourself in a semicircle, take the people away. No, they clung to the “#Bakhmut fortress”, now - to the “#Avdeyevka fortress”. Idiocy! When you lose serious fortifications, you need to retreat, straightening the line.

🔹4. Do not run ahead of the locomotive. The enemy is still clinging to the Coke Plant and wants to fight for it, and we have made only two serious steps so far to master the #Avdeyevka fortification:

▪️(a) In the first days of the offensive we caught hold of #Berdychi and passed a little to the right, which was very good. From the other flank took "Tsarskaya Okhota", but we were knocked out of there. The same thing, we had to leave #Berdychi. The success of the first days could not be consolidated and developed.

▪️b) Promka - the second step. There is already a trench + dump (#Slagheap) - the dominant height above Coke Plant and most of #Avdeyevka. Now it is difficult to get the artillery to the dump, and there are "eyes", and the enemy at Coke is fierce.

🔹5. After taking the Coke Plant, they have to leave #Avdeyevka. The next step is to close the ring and crimp it.

🔹6. It is difficult with #Avdeyevka, because the fortifications and underground communications of the enemy were built by Kiev Metro Construction. If we knock the AFU out of there, it will be the most serious success for the time of the SMO after #Mariupol. There is no population left in #Avdeyevka. There are maybe a thousand grandmothers for a 30,000-strong town.

📌 7. After taking #Avdeyevka up to #Kramatorsk, the enemy has virtually no serious fortifications. In the #Slavyansk - #Kramatorsk agglomeration there is a defence line with an airfield, headquarters, bunkers, built since 2014. But up to #Kramatorsk from #Avdeyevka there are no serious Ukrops with underground passages so that they can settle in.

🎯 "Geranium" UAVs have been hitting the enemy's rear areas for another night, with explosions heard in #Khmelnitsky, #Kharkov and #Poltava regions. Yesterday it was reported that a Patriot air defense system supplied from Germany was destroyed near #Zhitomir by a hypersonic "Kinzhal".

▪️ In the #Kherson direction, an air strike was carried out on the place of the enemy's landing, UAV operators also destroyed boats with AFU personnel. In the #Krynki area, an AFU helicopter was reported shot down by the 337th Airborne Regiment. Satellite images of the enemy indicate severe destruction in the locality as a result of the constant work of our aviation and artillery.

▪️ On the #Zaporozhye front, as a result of a short battle, an enemy infantry attack was repelled near #Verbovoye. At #Rabotino our troops are seizing the initiative and trying to move forward, retaking positions.

▪️ In #Maryinka, the RF Armed Forces are consolidating their positions and expanding their zone of control south of the town, trying to create conditions for reaching the #Pobeda settlement. It is necessary to occupy the heights and strongholds of the enemy.

▪️ In the #Avdeyevka sector, our troops are attacking on the northern edge of the front near #Stepovoye, advancing through the forest plantations. Due to the fact that the RF Armed Forces are exerting constant pressure on the enemy's defence in this direction, the AFU has transferred reserves to the villages of #Berdychi and #Novokalinovo. They report the use of heavy flame-throwing systems against enemy positions.

▪️ North of #Soledar our troops are pressing the enemy near #Razdolovka. Battles are taking place near #Bogdanovka (northwest of #Artyomovsk), which are important for the further offensive on Chasov Yar. The settlement has an elongated layout, passes to #Kalinovo, which in the future will allow us to reach the outskirts of Chasov Yar. Fighting continues to the north of #Kleshcheyevka.

💥 During the night, the enemy fired three rockets at #Mariupol. In #Donetsk, 17 civilians were wounded during the day. Shelling of border areas in the #Belgorod region continues.

▪️ In the #Kherson direction, the drone war continues. The enemy has concentrated units of UAV operators against #Krynki, inflicts constant strikes, and supplies each boat with electronic warfare equipment, which makes it difficult to use our FPVs. Yesterday, on the shore of the enemy, Ka-52 helicopters struck a light multi-purpose guided missile (LMUR, "Izdeliye 305") at a deployment point of AFU UAV operators, the crew was destroyed.

▪️ The #Zaporozhye front without significant changes. FABS with UMPC regularly arrive at the AFU, our artillery is working. The AFU fired at #Tokmak twice from MLRS, it is reported that the shells were shot down by air defence.

▪️ In the #Vremyevka sector, the enemy confirms the success of the RF Armed Forces north of #Priyutnoye in a section up to 2.1 km wide to a depth of 500 m.

▪️ Near #Avdeyevka, heavy bloody battles are underway. The RF Armed Forces are on the offensive, several hundred meters have been passed southeast of the city near a quarry, and a section of road is occupied east of Tsarskaya Okhota. In the south of the city, the Russian Army is advancing along the Chernyshevsky, Sportivnaya and Sobornaya streets to the west, making its way with small arms.

▪️ In the #Kharkov direction, the enemy is expecting an offensive by the RF Armed Forces . The mayor of #Kharkov is trying to calm the population and prevent panic, arguing this is due to the high training of the AFU and the fortifications erected. However, the fortified areas of the AFU were built near cities and small settlements in accordance with the #NATO theory of "fighting in urban areas", examples of which are #Mariupol and #Bakhmut.

💥 On the Russian border, the intensity of AFU terrorist attacks increased significantly yesterday. In the #Belgorod region, the villages of Mokraya Orlovka and #Dronovka, Grayvoron urban district, and the village of #Terebreno, Krasnoyaruzhsky district, came under AFU fire.
