In the #Lugansk direction, both opposing sides became more active. In the north, the initiative was taken by the Russian army. She attacked #Stelmakhovka supported by artillery. Also assault actions in the direction of #Makeyevka. Thus, the RF Armed Forces seek to dislodge the Ukrainian army to the right bank of the #Zherebets River. For their part, the AFU is attempting to advance towards #Lysychansk from the direction of #Belogorovka. (Figure 1)

🩸 Wagner PMC assault units are fighting on the eastern outskirts of #Bakhmut in the industrial zone and on the approaches to the populated area.

♦️#Bakhmut Area:

▪️ Russian forces are engaged in street fighting in the east of the city. Intense clashes are taking place on Fyodor Maksimenko Street and Pervomaysky Lane.

▪️ In #Opytnoye, the Wagnerians are penetrate a strong fortification in the settlement. The forces of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade are trying to hold back the advance on Shkolnaya Street by setting up strongholds in houses.

▪️ Also, RF Armed Forces units are conducting an offensive northeast of #Bakhmut, approaching the positions of 128th Mountain Assault Brigade in #Podhorodnoye.

▪️ To slow down the advance in the north, engineer-sapper teams have blown up a railway overpass over the highway on the northern outskirts of #Bakhmut.

In addition, the Ukrainian command of the 28th Mechanized Brigade, responsible for the #Kurdyumovka - Nyu-Yorka line, decided to undermine the dam near #Ozaryanovka by carrying out sabotage.

▪️ A counterattack by the AFU is planned in the vicinity of #Bakhmut. For this purpose, 500 mobilised men without heavy armoured vehicles are being transferred to the town and Chasov Yar area. At the same time the arrival at the unloading station is delayed.

♦️#Bakhmut Section:

▪️ Units of the 3rd Battalion of the 28th Mechanized Brigade and the 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the AFU attempted to counterattack Russian positions in #Ozaryanovka.

The RF Armed Forces repulsed the attack, the forces of the 28th and 46th Brigades retreated with losses. In one battalion companies of the 28th Mechanized Brigade, the number of killed and wounded exceeded 84 per cent of the actual number.

▪️ The combined brigade artillery groups of the 28th and 53rd Mechanized Brigades are shelling Russian positions in #Ozaryanovka and #Kurdyumovka.

▪️ The Ukrainian command intends to launch a counteroffensive in the #Bakhmut area in the third decade of December with the objective of pushing the RF Armed Forces 10-15 km away from the current frontline.

➖ To build up the grouping, the 105th, 106th and 107th Battalions of the AFU's 63rd Mechanized Brigade are being transferred from the #Kherson direction to #Udachnoye station, while at least the 98th Battalion of the 60th Mechanized Brigade has arrived in #Bakhmut.

▪️ The Wagnerians have completed the clearing of #Yakovlevka, creating a bridgehead for an offensive on #Soledar.

▪️ Units of 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade are engaged in positional fighting on the western outskirts of #Belogorovka. Grenade launchers and ammunition have been moved into the combat area.

🩸In recent weeks, separate units of the 24th, 60th, 63rd, 65th, Mechanized Brigade, 46th Separate Airmobile Brigade, 71st Jager Brigade, 128th Mountain Assault Brigade and 112th Brigade of the AFU Territorial Defence have been transferred to the combat zone.

🔹Which victory on the front do you consider most significant?

- The defeat of the enemy in the #Severodonetsk - #Lysychansk agglomeration, which made it possible to liberate the territory of the LPR. Next in importance is the encirclement and defeat of the #Mariupol grouping of the AFU. In both battles, the enemy sustained heavy losses in manpower and equipment, losing major cities and leaving large areas behind.
In addition, the victory at #Mariupol allowed #Russia to pierce a land corridor to #Crimea and make the Sea of Azov an inland Russian sea.

Defeat at #Balakleya

🔹A similar question, but with a minus sign. Which setback made the most painful impression on you?

Defeat at #Balakleya, which resulted in the forced withdrawal from #Izyum, and the subsequent loss of Kupyansk and Krasny #Liman. This blow was warned about, but no proper measures were taken, due to which the loss of territory and considerable materiel was allowed to occur. Militarily, this is our most significant defeat in 2022.

Syriaization awaits #Ukraine

🔹Now, 10 months after the start of the SMO, can we say that we have not been sufficiently prepared for the level of military conflict that is taking place in #Ukraine?

- As events on the front line have shown, no one was fully prepared for the type of war that has started in #Ukraine. Including #Russia, which had to adapt to the type of war it had not prepared for. As pointed out back in March, the war will follow a Syrianization path, which implies extended fronts and an indefinite duration of the war with its maximum internationalisation. The problems of the Russian Federation were mainly objective in nature, which was further exacerbated by various unforced errors of an organisational and managerial nature, some of which had already been officially acknowledged in the autumn.

The success of Wagner is natural

🔹One of the main heroes of the SMO were the fighters of the Wagner PMC, which has proved to be excellent in combat operations. Was it expected, given the involvement of PMCs in the Syrian war, or it still came as some kind of surprise?

- Since we`ve been following the operations of Wagner PMCs in #Syria, #Libya and #Africa, there are no surprises about its successes. Qualitative assault work of Wagner could be observed in #Syria (for example, during the storming of #Palmyra and #Akerbat) or in #Libya during the fighting for #Tripoli. Of course, for those who have not tracked the work of Wagner in remote theater, the PMCs' success was somewhat surprising. The main outcome of this participation is the fact that PMCs have received full legalization in Russia, even in the absence of the law regulating the activities of PMCs. Not de jure, but de facto.
