⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡 Impact on #Kremenchuk 330 kV Substation in #Poltava Region⚡️

On the night of 15-16 February, a massive strike by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities hit a 330kV Kremenchuk power substation.

The extent of the damage is not yet known, but previously Russian troops had usually hit autotransformers when striking substations.

It is very likely that the same substation has 👉 previously been hit on 16 December 2022.

⚡️🇷🇺 🇺🇦💡 The RF Armed Forces' Strike on CHPP-5 in #Kiev⚡️

One of the targets of overnight strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure was Kiev's CHPP-5. It had previously 👉 been hit by fire, but the CHPP continued to operate.

Judging by footage of the fire, the engine room and boiler room, where key equipment for the facility's operation is located, were hit. There are nine boilers and four turbines at CHPP-5: the removal of even some of them would significantly reduce the facility's power generation.

Coordinates: 50.392923, 30.568867

Including attacks on other targets in #Kiev, at least a third of the population of the Ukrainian capital lost electricity.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡Massive Missile Strike by RF Armed Forces on Infrastructure in #Ukraine on 9 Mar 2023 - what is known by 14:00⚡️

💥 Russian forces launched massive missile strikes against critical infrastructure in #Ukraine overnight.

The list of assets used in the attack was significantly expanded. The RF Armed Forces used kamikaze drones, cruise missiles, and even the Kinzhal hypersonic system.

🔹What is known by this Hour?

▪️ #Kiev: The engine room and boiler room of CHPP-5, a major generating station in the capital, have been hit. Combined with other hits, there have been significant power and communication problems in the city.

The facility has previously been targeted by Russian forces more than once, but the plant continued to operate. That said, if the RF Armed Forces manage to take out at least a few turbines and boilers, power generation will be significantly reduced.

▪️ #Kharkov: at least fifteen explosions were heard in the city. According to some reports, the operation of CHPP-3 and CHPP-5 was shut down. Local residents reported power and water supply outages, communication and heating problems.

▪️ #Dnepropetrovsk region: a series of explosions were heard in Pavlograd, Krivoy Rog and Dnipropetrovsk districts. According to preliminary reports, the targets of the attacks in the Krivoy Rog district could be the Krivoy Rog thermal power plant and the Yuzhnaya 330 substation.

▪️ #Zhytomyr region: the Zhytomyr 330 substation was allegedly hit: the regional centre was partially de-energised, about 150,000 subscribers were left without power.

▪️ #Volyn region: citizens heard powerful explosions in #Lutsk and #Kivertsy. The blow was so powerful that some residents of #Kivertsy reported that their houses were shaking.

There is an oil depot, an airfield and the Lutsk-North 330 substation, as well as military facilities in the #Lutsk area.

▪️ #Vinnitsa region: powerful explosions were heard in the region. Facilities at the Ladyzhyn TPP may have been hit again.

▪️ #Kirovograd region: local residents reported sounds of explosions in Kropivnitsky district and emergency power outages. The target of the attack in the region could have been the Ukrainka 330 substation.

▪️ #Odessa region: local authorities said a power facility in the region was hit. Among the possible targets of the strikes are the Adzhalyk 330 substation, Novoodesskaya 330 substation, Usatovo 330 substation and Tsentrolit 220 substation.

▪️ #Sumy region: one of the buildings of the Chemical Products Research Institute in Shostka was probably hit.

▪️ #Zaporozhye region: Local authorities reported that an energy facility in the region was hit.

▪️ Ivano-Frankovsk region: hit an unknown energy infrastructure facility.

▪️ Local residents also reported the sounds of explosions in #Lvov, #Kherson, #Khmelnytsky, #Nikolayev, #Ternopil, #Rivne, #Cherkasy and #Chernigov regions.

▪️ After the strikes, Ukrainian Railways reported train delays of up to an hour due to power supply problems. Several trains are delayed by almost four hours.

📌 Today's Wave of strikes was the most massive this year. Among the known targets are critical to the functioning of power plants are engine rooms.

The precise hits caused significant power supply problems in several regions of the country, which, however, were restored within hours.

The largest disruption in power supply to the contact line network was in central #Ukraine. Large interruptions were recorded near #Podilsk (#Odessa region) and #Odessa, as well as small ones near #Lvov and in the Carpathian passes.

In addition, local authorities have once again preventively switched off power before the raid, but this is also causing significant damage to the power system, undermining its stability.

Despite the lack of immediate results, such attacks are increasingly destabilising Ukraine's energy infrastructure, leaving hopes of its disintegration and disruption of railways and industry.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡Russian Massive Missile Attack on #Ukraine; what is known at the End of the Day⚡️

💬 For the past few weeks, Ukrenergo representatives have been assuring the public that the situation in the energy sector has stabilised and the consequences of the Russian strikes have been fully overcome. Today has shown that these statements are untrue.

💥 Both large PPs and PSs across the country have been targeted.

🔹CHPP-5 in Kiev: damage to several boilers triggered a massive fire that spread to the engine room. Even if some boilers and turbines survived, the facility is unlikely to be operational soon.

The strike caused power cuts across the city and disruptions to the water supply. By mid-afternoon, the power supply had been restored.

🔹Kharkov: Blows completely cut off power supply in the city. At least 15 explosions were recorded.

The most likely targets were:
PS Losevo 330;
CHPP-3;
CHPP-5;
Novoselka Traction PS;
PS 188 Zhukovsky 110/6kV.

There is still no stable electricity supply in the city, no heating and water in some places. Electric transport does not run, there are difficulties with cellular communication and the work of the railways.

🔹PS Zhytomyr 330: the extent of the damage is still unknown. By the end of 9 Mar, power supply in city and region had not been fully restored.

🔹Krivoy Rog TPP and Yuzhnaya 330 PS: the extent of damage to the facilities is unknown, but indirectly we can judge serious damage, as significant delays of passenger trains were recorded in the west of Dnepropetrovsk region.

🔹PS Ukrainka 330 in Kirovograd: the impact led to power outages and delays of passenger trains.

🔹Ladyzhyn TPP: indirect impact of the strike is confirmed by delays in movement of passenger trains on electrified railway lines.

🔹Odessa Region: the strike is believed to have hit one of the remaining PSs: Novoodessa 330, Adzhalyk 330 or Tsentrolit 220.

Given the continued growth of electricity imports from Moldova, the Usatovo 330 substation, which is working for transit, was not affected.

In Odessa Oblast, there was no voltage in the railway contact network, and passenger trains were delayed for a long time. Power restrictions have been imposed in the city and repair work is underway.

🔹In Dnepropetrovsk Region, the following substations have been hit:

PS Pavlograd 330: a 330/110kV autotransformer burned down.
PS Ferrosplavnaya 330: damage unknown, but power supply to ZNPP stopped.

In the afternoon, power supply to Ferrosplavnaya PS was restored. In Dnepropetrovsk itself, even the exterior lights were switched on in the evening.

This suggests that the city is supplied with electricity from the SouthUkraine NPP, and it is likely to be through the 750kV lines via the Dneprovska 750 and Zaporozhye 750 PSs.

🔹PS Lutsk North 330 in Volyn region: there were power outages as a result of the strike.

Also, strikes were recorded in Nikolayev, Lvov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Chmelnitsky, Ternopol, Poltava regions.

🔻What is the Outcome?

As a result of the missile strikes, the situation with power supply in #Kharkov came close to critical: there is no own generation, power from the Zmiyevs TPP because of damaged PSs is impossible, power from NPPs in western Ukraine simply does not reach the city.

The impact of today's strikes on train traffic is also notable - for the first time, some passenger trains were delayed by 3-4 hours. This indicates both the severity of the power supply problems and the lack of back-up diesel locomotives.

But we have to be realistic - in most regions the situation will stabilise in the next few days.

📌 To cause irreparable damage to the energy system of Ukraine, it is necessary to strike at the electrical equipment (block transformers) of base stations - NPPs and HPPs power stations, continuing to knock out still operating TPPs: primarily Zmievskaya, Tripolskaya and Burshtynskaya.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡 The RF Armed Forces hit several facilities in #Dnepropetrovsk Region in yesterday's massive 👉 Series of Strikes against #Ukraine's Energy Infrastructure⚡️

💥 One of these was very likely the Pavlograd-330 power substation.

Other targets of today's missile raid included critical infrastructure facilities in the #Kiev, #Kharkov and many other regions of the country.

Coordinates: 48.514224, 35.939959

The systematic impact on the energy sector reduces the logistical and production capabilities of Ukrainian forces.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡 Hit on Losevo 330 Substation in #Kharkov⚡️

In yesterday's massive 👉 strike by the RF Armed Forces, several energy infrastructure facilities in the Kharkov region have been hit. One of them was the Losevo 330 substation in the Industrial District of #Kharkov.

According to preliminary reports, the open switchgear (OSG) was hit - serious damage to the electrical installation could lead to a complete shutdown of the facility.

Coordinates: 49.943829, 36.413456

However, due to a shortage of repair materials, it can take a long time to restore the facility. In #Kharkov itself, large-scale power and water supply outages have been recorded after the raid.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡 Strike on #Zhytomyr 330 Substation⚡️

Yesterday the RF Armed Forces struck the Zhytomyr 330 substation. In the pictures from the scene of the incident, it can be seen that the 330/110kV autotransformers were hit, and the blast wave hit the outbuildings. In autumn this substation had already been 👉 a target: at that time one autotransformer was destroyed.

Coordinates: 50.290999, 28.700808

Thus, at least two of the three autotransformers were hit. The last one, with a capacity of 200 MVA, is responsible for supplying power to the city of Zhytomyr, and it does not have enough capacity to provide a stable supply of electricity.

Also, in parallel, power engineers are trying to transfer power to the city via 110kV lines from Shepetovka 330 and Kazatin 330 substations, but the capacity of these lines is limited. The expected period of the blackout is up to two weeks.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡 Strikes on a Non-Operational Power Unit at #KrivoyRog TPP⚡️

💥 On 9 Mar 2023,
Russian troops launched 👉 massive strikes against energy infrastructure in #Ukraine. One of the targets again was the 👉 Krivoy Rog TPP in #Zelenodolsk. Unlike the last attack, when the plant's engine room was damaged, this time the missile did not reach its target.

The thing is that the shell hit the eighth power unit, which had been out of service for several years already. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Ukrainian industry and population shrank significantly, and since 2014 coal stopped coming from #Donbass. As a result, both energy consumption and the ability to maintain generation of coal-fired thermal power plants decreased. Therefore, some facilities were simply shut down.

Such a fate befell the eighth unit at the Krivoy Rog TPP, but several others are still operational. Among those that have survived previous shelling and are generating power are the first and second units, which are located at the other end of the building.

Taking them out of service would deal a serious blow to power generation in #Dnepropetrovsk region, and in particular in the industrial and mining-rich Krivoy Rog district.

▪️ Coordinates of the operating power units:
47.544900, 33.658107; 47.545147, 33.656716
▪️ Impact Location: 47.543945, 33.658367

📌 Earlier, our team compiled a list of key enemy infrastructure facilities whose removal would accelerate the collapse of #Ukraine's energy system.

⚡️🇷🇺🇺🇦💡Rybar's Analysis: #Kharkov Region's Energy Sector almost destroyed⚡️

Not long ago, we wrote on #Odessa's power problems. After the 👉 9 Mar Strikes, #Kharkov region became the 2nd region where the RF Armed Forces inflicted critical damage to the power system.

The regional centre was without light, water and heat. Transport and communications were disrupted. Part of the damage has begun to be repaired. But they got hit pretty good.

🔹What is #Kharkov based on?

▪️ Electricity is received through substations Zalyutino 330, Kharkov 330 and Losevo 330.
▪️ The regional centre has two stations of its own - TPP-5 and TPP-3. While the former mostly feeds the residential sector, the latter is closely linked to industrial plants.
▪️ In close proximity to the city is TPP-2 Eskhar and the powerful Zmievskaya TPP.

The most important is the Zalyutino PS: through it Zmievskaya TPP and TPP-5 are connected to #Ukraine's center. After Zalyutino was hit systematically, the Ukrainian energy sector began to use the Losevo PS and an alternat route for power transfer.

🔹What about these Stations now?

Zalyutino 330 PS: all three 330/110kV autotransformers were destroyed. The OSG has been destroyed. Breakers, equipment, outbuildings and substations have been damaged. The PS can now only operate on 330kV and 110kV power transit.

Losevo 330 PS: At least three of the four 330/110kV autotransformers were destroyed in total. The building of the PS and high voltage equipment was severely damaged. Repairs have been started, but the maximum that can be achieved is to bring back the possibility of power transit, which in the case of Losevo will not help the city much.

PS Kharkovska 330: There is indirect evidence of explosions near the PS. Ukrenergo has already said that one of the substations has been put into operation, most likely, it is the Kharkovska PS, which suffered incomparably less damage.

TPP-5: The combined heat and PP with a generation capacity of 540MW has already been hit in Dec and Feb. In Feb, rockets hit the turbine hall, causing a serious fire that damaged at least two turbine generators. On 9 Mar, missiles allegedly hit a 3rd. The TPP stopped generating heat and electricity for up to a day and a half.

TPP-3: A TPP with an 80MW generation capacity was hit in Feb, but there was no major damage. The extent of damage after the latest airstrikes is unknown.

PS 188 Zhukovsky 110: Transit PS on the northern ring of the 110kV overhead line. Equipment damaged.

🔹What does this mean?

Ukrenergo said today that it has managed to restore operation of one of the PPs - we are talking about TPP-5. According to the most optimistic scenario, #Kharkov can count on:

▪️570МВт capacity at the Kharkov 330 PS;
▪️240МВт capacity from TPP-5;
▪️~360MW, which can be transferred by HV-110kV from Eskhar TPP-2, Zmievskaya TPP and from #Sumy region.

❗️A total of 1170MW can be transferred to #Kharkov. This would allow the existence of power supply constraints. But the situation is complicated by large damage to substations and distribution equipment.

🔹What are the Engineers doing?

The main efforts are aimed at rescuing the survivors. Substations cannot be restored to full functionality, so the focus is on restoring at least transit capacity.

But because of the city's distance from the NPP, it is more vulnerable. Damaged autotransformers cannot be replaced. Only 110kV and lower networks are being restored.

🔹How do we fight back?

Zmievskaya TPP plays a key role in supplying #Kharkov. It is used to transfer power to the remaining autotransformers and distribute it to the city's networks.

❗️After the removal of the Losevo and Zalyutino substations, the Kharkov PS became the key power distribution hub. It is too early to talk about a complete blackout, which is confirmed by reports from #Kharkov, where power engineers manage to restore power supply to the city.

📌 Therefore, it is necessary to continue!
