π This Morning (25 Apr 2023), a Russian MANPAD system shot down a Ukrainian Su-25 in the #Kherson direction. The enemy aircraft went down near the village of #Veletenskoye, west of #Kherson near the #Borshchevka River. A large fire occurred at the site, characteristic for a downed attack aircraft.

The enemy had 32 Su-25 attack aircraft in service and another 10 in storage prior to the start of the# SMO. According to open sources, the AFU has lost about 16 aircraft of this type so far.
π Lately, Ukrainian Aviation activity in the area near #Kherson has increased. Ukrainian Air Force aircraft regularly take off from the airfield in #Voznesensk and #Kanatovo, and when a pair of Su-25s flew to #Kherson, a Bayraktar TB2 drone was in the air north of #Belozerka.

Seriously, there have been many such statements, and without providing facts it often turns into information support for the "hurrah-patriotic" audience.
βοΈBut the time has passed, which, by all appearances, has become the best proof that the operation did take place.
βͺοΈ The operation was carried out with the involvement of S-400 SAMs and MiG-31BM fighters, and the targeting was carried out by the Russian A-50U AWACS aircraft in several "waves" (seven aircraft were hit on 20 October alone). We donβt know whether they were preceded by the launch of βdecoysβ at Ukrainian aviation airfields to simultaneously lift planes into the air, but it would be logical.
π If at the beginning of October, at least 30 aircraft were active on the territory of #Ukraine by means of air defense and EW, then over the past week such one-time marks were no more than 10-12 (even adjusted for bad weather, the number decreased).
βͺοΈ As a rule, we are talking about Su-27 and MiG-29 type aircraft based at the #Kanatovo, #Dolgintsevo, #Voznesensk, #Mirgorod, #Ozernoye airfields. Also, Su-24M bombers from the #Starokonstantinov airfield disappeared from the radar. This is due to their loss or an attempt to protect scarce aircraft from strikes is still questionable.
βͺοΈ In addition, recently Ukrainian formations have been striking mainly with S-200 missiles and ATACMS-type missiles (out of 20 missiles received by #Ukraine, at least 9 have been used up - the air defence reported the shooting down of five missiles, another batch with a range of up to 300 km arrived in #Ukraine the day before).
βͺοΈ Let us repeat: so far, all confirmations (due to the absence of obituaries from the AFU, which can last for months) are indirect. βͺοΈ And there have been no attacks with Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles for a long time, which may indicate the success of the operation. However, we should not rule out the possibility of elementary exhaustion of supplies and waiting for new ones.
π Unfortunately, the Russian Ministry of Defence did not provide any objective control personnel, so such bright victories after a year and eight months of SMO are not immediately believable.

βͺοΈ First, at around 10:40, 3 Neptune antiship missiles were fired from the Alibey firing range in the #Odessa region. 2 of them were shot down on the approach to #Sevastopol (target was a mooring for ships and boats), and the 3rd was downed near Cape #Tarkhankut (AFU likely intended to strike an air defence positioning area).
βͺοΈ Then, close to one 13:00, near #Perevalnoye village, an R-100 drone fell into a field at the training ground. Apparently, the drone was landed by an EW team. It detonated without causing any damage to infrastructure or civilian objects.
πΉ At the same time, a MiG-29 naval aviation fighter detected up to 8 unmanned boats moving towards #Sevastopol and Cape #Tarkhankut. Additional aircraft and patrol boats were sent to meet them.
βͺοΈ The AFU boats slowed down, and those that were moving towards #Sevastopol turned around. 4 were destroyed 100-120 km west of Cape #Tarkhankut, and the rest, according to RF MoD, were destroyed later, one of them was a landing boat.

In the evening there were reports of Iskander and FAB strikes on targets in the AFU-occupied areas near #Slavyansk, #Kramatorsk and #Konstantinovka.
βͺοΈ In the #Kherson direction, fighting continues near #Krynki, and the enemy is also being destroyed in the coastal zone. The AFU are trying to build up the presence of live forces on our coast, in the evening our troops sank one enemy boat, the surviving personnel were killed by our FPV-drones.

π― Yesterday evening, strikes by "Geraniums" hit targets in the Odessa region. At night, including with missile weapons, targets were practiced in the #Kharkov region. Explosions were also heard near #Kropivnitskoye in the #Kirovograd region, near which the #Kanatovo military airfield is located.
βͺοΈ From #Crimea at night, primary data was received on the repelling of an attack by enemy UAVs.
βͺοΈ In the #Kherson direction in the area of #Krynki there are no significant changes, but enemy resources began to quote the enemy military command, which began to state that in the specified area the AFU "hold defence". This moment is indicative, since the enemy operation on our side of the #Dnieper was planned as an "offensive" one. Nevertheless, during two months of heavy fighting, the enemy did not achieve success. Mutual artillery shelling continued throughout the day, and boats carrying enemy troops were destroyed by UAV operators.
βͺοΈ From the #Zaporizhzhya front we receive primary information that on this section of the front the AFU also went on the defensive. After an artillery preparation, our troops attacked the #Rabotino - #Verbovoye section, occupied several AFU strongholds, and tactical advancement at #Verbovoye was up to several hundred metres. The availability of thermal-imaging sights and other modern technical equipment for the forward units of our paratroopers, as well as maintenance equipment for armoured vehicles (technological fluids, etc.), remains a problematic issue. The logistics system for the troops, even if everything is available in warehouses, remains stiff and sluggish.
βͺοΈ In the south of #Avdeyevka, our troops are "targeting" enemy strongholds and firing points in difficult weather conditions.
βͺοΈ In the #Maryinka sector, there was fighting south of #Novomikhaylovka, with reports of counterattacks by the AFU. This settlement is important for the enemy in terms of preventing our troops from reaching the motorway to #Ugledar from the northeast.

π As we wrote yesterday, the AFU once again attempted to strike #Crimea a day later. In anticipation of the raid the aviation relocated to several bases for distraction.
πΉ At around 16:20, 5 Su-24M bombers and 2 MiG-29 fighters took off from #Starokonstantinov, #Mirgorod and #Kanatovo airbases and launched Storm Shadows and several ADM-160 MALD decoys towards the peninsula.
βͺοΈ The first missile was shot down over #Uyutny near #Yevpatoriya. There was minor damage to infrastructure by debris, but no casualties were reported.
βͺοΈ Two more Storms, rounding Cape Fiolent, attempted to attack air defences in #Sevastopol. The missiles could not be shot down, but they did not reach their target either, servicemen of the 31st Division continued their work.
βͺοΈ Several more aerial targets (the attacks were a combination of cruise missiles and decoys) were destroyed by a Pantsir-S1 SAM system crew over Pesochnaya Bay near Chersonesos Tavricheskoye.
βͺοΈ And a couple of "Storms" were also hit in near Fedyukhin Heights and the Balaklava TPP. Judging by the flight trajectory, the target could have been an important energy facility.
