Thousands of people are forced every year to plead guilty to crimes they did not commit. The prosecutors hold all the cards. Their conviction rates are 99%. Juries in many areas are completely biased. Much work needs to be done to right these wrongs. See Rakoff, Why the Innocent Plead Guilty.
