#mains
GS Notes aka OSRA (3/n)

- These are my notes for Mains (little bit of GS1, GS2, and GS3). For GS1, I relied on basic books and Prelims content. For GS2 and GS3, I used substantial content from QEP. Due to time constraints, I didn't make detailed notes for individual topics. Instead, my notes became a compilation of value additions. I called it OSRA—short for "One Source to Rule them All" (LOTR fans, assemble!).
- I compiled all value additions, examples, ideas, and keywords I encountered in these notes, and organized them by syllabus. As mentioned earlier, I used my friend's notes for IR and Internal Security. I also made separate notes on the topic "women" for GS1. Apart from these, OSRA was my go-to resource.
- This approach differs from conventional note-making as it's not detailed or comprehensive. It might seem like a random assortment of points—and that's exactly what it is. However, it made sense to me, and I could write decent answers with them. This was because I combined OSRA with brainstorming. While brainstorming with bulky, detailed notes wouldn't help—as too much time would be spent passively reading—a shorter note like OSRA, when paired with brainstorming, brought the best of both worlds: 'relevant points' from notes and 'multidimensionality' from brainstorming.
- For those considering copying these notes, please be aware that many examples in OSRA might be outdated. Exercise caution before relying exclusively on these for your preparation. Nevertheless, you can tailor this approach to align with your individual strengths and weaknesses.
- My typical study session with these notes looked like this:
- Hour 1: Reading OSRA
- Hours 2 & 3: Brainstorming using PYQs (I've shared my Mains PYQ analysis earlier)
- Hour 4: Reviewing OSRA and the brainstormed answers to identify any missed points
Please note - These are Benjo P Jose AIR 59 - General Studies notes.
