The oil tanker MKD Vyom (flagged Marshall Islands) issued a mayday distress alert near the Strait of Hormuz on 1 March 2026 after reporting fire/explosion and subsequent flooding in its engine room, according to a mayday transmission relayed by the Norwegian Joint Rescue Coordination Centre. At approximately 08:39 GMT, the vessel — on voyage to Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia — called for assistance as it was operating in the northern Arabian Sea.

The U.S.-flagged product tanker Stena Imperative was struck by two unidentified projectiles while berthed in the Port of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf on 2 March 2026, causing a fire onboard that was later extinguished and resulting in the death of one shipyard worker and injuries to others ashore. LNG carrier Arctic Metagaz (flagged Russia) caught fire between Malta and Libya in the central Mediterranean Sea on 3 March 2026. It's suspected that is could be an attack of enemy drone. The last coordinated of the vessel is approximately 50 nautical miles east from Malta. Maritime patrol aircraft and nearby vessels responded to the incident; the fire was reported to be under control later in the day. The crew was rescued. No confirmed reports of fatalities or serious injuries have been released.

The Suezmax tanker Sonangol Namibe (flagged Bahamas) suffered a large explosion on its port side while at anchor approximately 30 nautical miles southeast of Kuwait on 4 March 2026. Following the blast, the vessel reported oil in the water and began taking on water. UKMTO also noted that a small craft was seen leaving the vicinity immediately after the explosion. No fire was reported and all crew members were confirmed safe. An investigation has been launched.
