💕 Support rally appears outside Anthropic office after Pentagon ban

People gathered near Anthropic’s office and wrote messages in chalk thanking CEO Dario Amodei for refusing censorship and surveillance through Claude.

At the same time Amodei filed a lawsuit against the Pentagon and the Trump administration after Anthropic was banned from government contracts.

The company may regain access to standard federal work, while the defense ban is expected to remain.

⚡️ Amazon builds $11B AI data center that will use 2.2 GW of power

The facility will need about 2.2 gigawatts of electricity to run AI processors.

That level of demand is roughly equal to the output of 2–3 nuclear reactors.

The project shows how large AI compute clusters now require energy on the scale of national infrastructure.

One AI data center can consume power like a small country grid node.

📊 Anthropic maps the gap between AI capability and real workplace use

Anthropic published a study on how AI affects the labor market. The chart shows two zones. Blue marks tasks AI can already perform. Red marks tasks where workers actually use AI today.

🖱 At least 25% of tasks done by US workers are already accessible to AI systems.
🖱 That spans about 49% of all jobs.
🖱 The share is 36% higher than a year ago.

Real usage remains much smaller than the technical capability. Each month the red zone slowly expands.

⚖️ Anthropic sues 17 US agencies over AI safety restrictions

Anthropic filed a lawsuit against 17 US federal agencies and the Executive Office of the President after refusing to remove two restrictions from Claude: bans on lethal autonomous weapons and mass surveillance of Americans.

According to the 48-page filing, the Department of Defense threatened to either force access to Claude under the Defense Production Act or classify Anthropic as a supply chain risk and cut it from government systems.

Anthropic argues the government cannot treat the company as critical for national security while also labeling it a threat.

The case challenges the legal basis for the action under 10 U.S.C. § 3252.
