🌟It was a whirlwind weekend over 24-28 April as our OARsome Director Florence (Assoc Alum) and Samuel (MCM 2014) hosted 4 reunions in 4 Indian cities over 4 consecutive days! 🇮🇳

💬 We were thrilled to reconnect with 119 alumni across Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata. 🎓

🏆 In Mumbai, we were proud to present Piyush Agarwal (MBA 2020) with the SMU Alumni Volunteer Commendation for his tireless efforts in alumni community building — first as the founding President of the MBA Alumni Group, and then as the Alumni Representative in India.

🙏 Big thanks to Sanath Nadiq and Raksha Muralikrishna for their incredible support in Bengaluru!

We were also joined in Bengaluru and Kolkata by our colleagues Ivan Low and Andrew Low from the SMU OAFA.

🇦🇪 It was an OARsome reunion in the UAE! 🎉

On 3 May, we had the pleasure of reconnecting with our amazing alumni community over a session of meaningful conversations, networking, and shared memories. The distribution of Alumni Smoo Smoo lapel pins sparked nostalgic memories of the school days.

🎖 Besides sharing the latest SMU updates, our Director, Florence also presented the Alumni Leader lapel pin to our UAE Alumni Chapter Chairperson, Imran Manasawala (BBM 2010).

🎤 We were inspired by the heartfelt sharing from Samuel Chiang (BSc Econ 2020), Grace Goh (LLB 2019), Projjal Ghatak (BSc ISM 2008), Akanksha Goel (BBM 2008), and Zehra Zafar (BSocSc 2012). While many may see the UAE as a pitstop, you’ve shown what it means to build a home and community here. 🌍

Florence (Assoc Alum), our #OARsome Director, received the award on behalf of the #SMU team, and had the honour of presenting our winning formula at one of the CASE Conference sessions and together with Benjamin (MTSC 2017), AD of Comms.

Our OARsome team took things up a notch with a whirlwind study trip around Hong Kong, visiting leading institutions including The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University 🎓.

Guided by our very own alumna, Cindy Leong (BSocSc 2011), Founder of The Enneagram Academy Singapore, the session explored how understanding personality dynamics through the Enneagram framework can enhance the way we lead, communicate, and connect with others 💬✨.

Participants gained fresh perspectives on their leadership and communication styles — a powerful reminder that true leadership begins with self-awareness 🔍👤.

This Tuesday, we hosted our Overseas Alumni Leaders Townhall, bringing together 20 incredible alumni leaders from 14 cities around the globe! 💫

The recent overseas visits by OAR played a key role in doubling the number of participating alumni leaders this time around.

Despite time zone challenges, the session was packed with energy, connection, and meaningful conversations. Among them were Gulshan Harjani (BBM 2005) and Steven GUO (MBA 2010), recent recipients of the Commendation Award for long-serving alumni volunteers.

🙌 A big shoutout to our Melbourne rep, Geraldine Goh (BBM 2004), who inspired us with her journey of building a thriving alumni community from the ground up. 💡

We were also honoured to have Josephine Yip from the Singapore Global Network (SGN), who shared valuable resources and funding opportunities to support overseas alumni initiatives.
