Leftist forces and labor organizations commemorated International Workers' Day in Khan Younis and demanded the protection of the rights of Palestinian workers.
Leftist Palestinian forces, labor organizations, and trade unions commemorated International Workers' Day with a massive popular march in the city of Khan Younis, with the participation of national and social blocs, and in the presence of the Mayor of Khan Younis, Engineer Alaa Al-Batta.
The march toured the streets of Khan Younis, reaching the site of the popular festival near the Khan Younis municipal library, amidst calls to strengthen the rights of Palestinian workers and stop the humanitarian and economic deterioration they are facing.
The event was opened by the leader of the Palestinian National Initiative Movement, Mohammed Sawali, who emphasized that Palestinian workers constitute the "vanguard of the struggle and the voice of dignity," praising the participation of trade union and national forces in commemorating the occasion.
The festival included speeches and messages in the name of labor blocs and union organizations, where the leader of the Palestinian People's Party, Ashour Banat, delivered a speech on behalf of the labor blocs. The official of the Workers' Unity Bloc in Khan Younis, Ayman Al-Faqawi, read a message addressed to the Arab Labour Organization, while Mohammed Fayyad, representing the Progressive Labor Union Front, read a message addressed to the International Labour Organization.
The speeches and messages affirmed the right of Palestinian workers to work, dignity, and social justice, while rejecting what they described as international silence regarding the difficult humanitarian and living conditions that Palestinian workers are experiencing in light of the blockade and economic restrictions.
The message addressed to the Arab Labour Organization emphasized the exacerbation of unemployment and poverty rates, the decline in job opportunities, and the collapse of living standards, in addition to the absence of sufficient social protection, considering that Palestinian workers are facing conditions that threaten their right to a dignified life and job stability.
The message also linked the conditions of Palestinian workers to the violations that Palestinian prisoners are subjected to inside "israeli" prisons, calling for Arab and international action to protect their rights and rejecting any policies related to approving the death penalty against Palestinian prisoners.
At the conclusion of the event, the Popular Committee for Refugees called for participation in commemorating the Nakba on 11 May, confirming the unity of the Palestinian national position and the continued adherence to national rights.

โก๏ธ On January 29, 2024, Israeli tanks blocked Hind Rajab's family car fleeing Tal Hawa, firing hundreds of rounds and killing her relatives while wounding five-year-old Hind. โก๏ธ She pleaded with the Red Crescent as she bled for hours. After hours of coordination, paramedics Yusuf al-Zeino and Ahmed al-Madhoun were granted safe passage, but Israeli tanks lured and shelled them just hundreds of meters from Hind's car.
