Love that Chooses, Promises, and Waits (Genesis 12–25)

God calls Abram with no résumé, promising to bless him and through him bless the nations. Abram stumbles. He lies about Sarah, takes matters into his own hands with Hagar, and struggles with doubt. Yet God remains faithful.

God changes his name, walks alone through the covenant, and binds Himself to His promise. Even the test of Isaac reveals a deeper truth: God provides what He requires.

This is covenantal love.
God chooses a relationship He Himself sustains.

Joseph is betrayed, sold, forgotten, imprisoned.

Yet God is repeatedly described as “with Joseph.”

That phrase matters. Love does not remove suffering immediately, but it never withdraws presence.

What humans mean for evil, God weaves into salvation.

Joseph’s declaration sums up Genesis theology:
“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.”

Love here is redemptive sovereignty, the ability to bring life from betrayal.

Love That Hears and Remembers (Exodus 2:23–25)

* God’s love is initiated by Him, not triggered by human worthiness.

* His love is remembering love. He does not forget His promises even when His people drift.
