When and how the pandemic will end. McKinsey Structured Analysis and Forecast.
If anyone is able to analyze the sea of the most contradictory information about the course and prospects of the pandemic and give a more or less reliable forecast, it is not epidemiologists and virologists. And not doctors, not vaccine developers, not math model specialists, not medical bureaucrats, and certainly not psychologists, sociologists, or politicians. Only specialists in strategic analysis can summarize, structure, analyze, and scenario-predict the future of the pandemic based on information from all the above-mentioned factors. For example, from McKinsey. Which they just did, based on a giant pool of new information that came in over the last 60 days.
Read their analysis, scenarios, and conclusions here.

@science super short summary of this document is as follows.
When and how the pandemic will end depends on "where".
In Israel and the United States, France and Russia, Australia and China, everything will be very different.
And while each country will be "unhappy in its own way," only one thing will be common to all: the risks will not disappear even when collective immunity is achieved.

The Brain โRotatesโ Memories to Save Them From New Sensations
Some populations of neurons simultaneously process sensations and memories. New work shows how the brain rotates those representations to prevent interference.
During every waking moment, we humans and other animals have to balance on the edge of our awareness of past and present. We must absorb new sensory information about the world around us while holding on to short-term memories of earlier observations or events. Our ability to make sense of our surroundings, to learn, to act and to think all depend on constant, nimble interactions between perception and memory. Read on Quantamagazine.

The worldโs biggest flower, Rafflesia arnoldii, is a parasite that spends much of its life inside its vine hosts. New genomic work suggests that the parasites in this group of plants have lost an astonishing share of their genes.
The bizarre genome of the worldโs most mysterious flowering plants shows how far parasites will go in stealing, deleting and duplicating DNA.
