β€”πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΎIn a statement, the SDF warned that what it described as ongoing attacks against civilians could trigger far-reaching consequences.

The group said any continued escalation would not remain confined to Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, or the city of Aleppo, but could expand the confrontation nationwide.

According to the SDF, such a development risks pushing Syria back into a phase of widespread and open conflict.

"One of the army's reconnaissance battalions detected that the SDF has mined the main and secondary roads in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods, as well as numerous public and private properties in the streets.

The SDF prevented hundreds of residents from leaving the Ashrafiyah and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods by firing bullets around them and terrorizing them.

The SDF continues to target neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo with mortar shells and heavy and medium machine guns, causing more casualties among residents and damage to public and private property."

πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΎβŒπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡Ύ β€” SDF now announce that they had already retreated from the neighbourhoods in Aleppo, and that the Syrian government is only targeting civilians.

Statement issued by the General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces:

The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces confirms that the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods have been completely besieged by Damascus government forces for more than six months. These neighborhoods pose no military threat whatsoever and cannot serve as a launching point for any attack on the city of Aleppo. The claims propagated by bloodthirsty elements within the Damascus factions regarding any intention or military action by our forces originating from these two neighborhoods are false and fabricated, used as a pretext to justify the siege, bombardment, and massacres perpetrated against civilians.

We categorically affirm that the Syrian Democratic Forces have no military presence in the city of Aleppo. Their withdrawal was public and documented in front of the media, in accordance with a clear agreement, and security responsibilities were handed over to the Internal Security Forces. The reemergence of these baseless arguments serves only to provide political and military cover for the ongoing brutal assault on safe residential areas. We call upon the guarantor states, as well as the responsible parties within the Syrian government who claim to uphold national unity, to assume their immediate responsibilities and work to immediately halt the siege, bombardment, and military offensive targeting innocent civilians in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods without any justification.

We warn that the continuation of this aggression against civilians will lead to serious repercussions that will not be limited to the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods or to the city of Aleppo alone, but will return all of Syria to an open battlefield. Full responsibility for this will fall on those who insist on using force against civilians.

The General Command of the Syrian Democratic Forces is closely monitoring the situation with utmost sensitivity, in coordination with all parties concerned with the safety and security of our people in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods. It affirms that the siege, the threat of force, the targeting of civilians, and their use as bargaining chips or human shields constitute crimes that are unacceptable and condemned by all legal and humanitarian standards.

The move allows QNB to offer payment solutions that are recognised both locally and internationally, targeting individuals as well as businesses.

The expansion is expected to support the development of modern payment infrastructure and wider use of electronic transactions in the Syrian market.

β€”πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΎSyrian Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa said the steps taken in Aleppo are security measures, not a broad military campaign, and are limited to Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, al-Mustafa stated that the April agreement with the SDF required the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the city, an obligation he said has not been met.

He accused SDF units of continuing to use artillery against civilian facilities, noting that action was taken only after security forces came under fire.

Al-Mustafa stressed that the status of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh had already been resolved in the earlier agreement, warning that Aleppo β€œcannot live under a constant threat to the lives of its people”.
