An experience that I would like to share happened when Swami visited Dharmakshetra in the 1990s; His abode in Mumbai. I was a toddler at the time and reached Dharmakshetra with my family for Swamiโ€™s Darshan. I attended Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) regularly with my elder sister, hence I was made to sit on the lawn outside Sathya Deep with all the other SSE students.

We had arrived late. I noticed that all the other students had a rose in their hands to offer Swami. I was deprived of that chance and was crestfallen to know that I had lost this special opportunity to make an offering to Swami.

With tears in my eyes, I prayed to Swami. I had an intense desire to make an offering to Him. I plucked a few strands of grass with my little hands and waited for Swamiโ€™s arrival. Swami walked towards our enclosure. He just touched the roses everyone else had and came right in front of me. I stood up with my humble offering. Swami then smiled lovingly, patted my back affectionately and spoke to me for a few moments. My happiness knew no bounds and my tears of dejection instantly turned into tears of euphoria and gratitude.

Swami, an incarnation of love, responded to my inner yearning and prayer and continues to shower His love on all His children.
Jai Sai Ram! (Arjun, India)

I was born in a family devoted to Sri Sathya Sai Baba. With my humble salutations at His lotus feet, I would like to share my personal experience on how Lord Sai responded to my prayers.

Since childhood, I have attended bhajans, Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) classes and service activities with my younger sister. I experienced my first memorable connection with Swami in the year 2006, when I was nine years old.

Every year in the summer, we used to visit Swami. In the year 2006 we went to Kodaikanal for Swami's darshan. One morning, when my sister and I were standing in the darshan line, a volunteer stopped and told us that children were not allowed to enter the mandir and that we should sit outside for darshan. The volunteer also said "Do not worry, Swami will come out to give you darshan.โ€

I was upset and thought to myself, "What is this Swami? We came all the way from Hyderabad just for You and this is what You do to usโ€. After a few moments, there was a queue of children going to the altar in the verandah (corridor) and I do not know why, but I felt like joining them. So, I took my little sister along with me. When I joined the line, one of the volunteers said that the line was for SSE students. The very next moment I remember saying in a very firm voice "Yes, we are Hyderabad SSE students". On hearing this, the lady allowed us to join the line. After a few minutes, Swami came out for darshan and started giving gifts to the SSE students.

Swamiโ€™s love knows no bounds. He fulfils our petty desires so that one day, we will aspire for the great spiritual wealth that He wants to confer upon us. (Sindhuja, UK)

In my room, opposite my study desk, there is a painting of a tree on the wall. However, this is no ordinary tree. To me, this painting means a lot more. I can feel the warmth of the sun rays that are peeking through the branches. The long branches create dancing shadows on the fresh, dewy grass beneath. The lush coolness of the grass relieves my eyes. My eyes drink in the various shades of green ranging from bright yellow, light, medium and dark green, to dark mahogany brown and tinges of black.

Every morning, as I climb into the driverโ€™s seat of the car, clutch onto the steering wheel, I am treated to a sight that makes the sleepiness worth it. Nature outside my window astounds me in all its beauty. Itโ€™s easy to forget that the world in which we live is one that is beyond beautiful.

On one such morning, I read the โ€˜Thought of the Dayโ€™โ€“
โ€œPeople admire the beauty of Nature, but are not aware of the beauty in their heartsโ€.

I have never thought about the heart, as an organ that is beautiful. Its beats remind me that I am alive. Every beat is another chance. For every day I live, I get another chance to change my habits, fix my mistakes, and grow into a better person. The heart too gives me hope.

I suspect that Swami may have referred to the beauty of the mind โ€“ the emotional heart. The mind is at its most beautiful state when it is strong. I admire its capacity to have faith, be confident, and be fearless. When the mind is focused with one-pointed concentration, when it is steady and still and when it is one with the present โ€“ this emotional heart beats loud and hard. It beats the worldโ€™s best rhythm. I pray to Swami that I find this rhythm. I hope you find it too. (Nimaashaa, Australia)

Growing up, my family and I would always visit Puttaparthi at least for a day when we visited India every few years. It was always a short stop on our hectic schedule. I always told Bhagawan in my heart, "Swami, I should stay here longer, 10 days!" Last year, I received a text message from my Regional Young Adults (YA) Coordinator stating that a Sai devotee was searching for a YA to participate in a Christmas play in Puttaparthi. I immediately responded โ€œYesโ€ without even asking my employer for vacation time or knowing any details of the programme.

It was my first time travelling to India alone, and for an extended period of time. The organiser asked us to be present in Puttaparthi for exactly 10 days. I was chosen as one of the main characters of the play! The only catch was that I had to grow a moustache - something I did not want to do! But since it would bring me closer to Swami, I agreed.

In Puttaparthi, I spent my time diligently practicing my lines, trying my best to avoid any distractions that Swami kept placing in my path. Instead of venturing out and exploring the town, I kept to myself and focused on the opportunity Swami had granted me. I found myself constantly trying to improve my dialogue delivery. The day before the play, the organiser noticed my hard work and gave me the privileged opportunity to offer Aarthi in Sai Kulwant Hall after our programme. I was overjoyed! As I was returning back, Bhagawan even "arranged" that my train compartment included a high-ranking Government Official who was also visiting Puttaparthi. As he was provided high-security detail, all my nervousness about travelling alone was gone. Swami sent me home with armed guards!

I learned at His Lotus Feet, that He always fulfils our desires, in His own way, at the right time. We must enthusiastically say "Yes!" to every opportunity He affords us, and any trials along the way are His way of securing His choicest blessings! Thank you, Swami! (Samir, USA)
