❤️‍🔥 Angels often carry staffs

In the biblical story of Gideon and the angel, the angel is described as having a staff. Specifically, the angel of the Lord touched the meat and bread with the tip of the staff he was holding, and a fire came from the rock, consuming the offerings.
The angel of the Lord disappears before Gideon's eyes: there one moment and then gone. This clarifies that what Gideon saw was a manifestation, not a mortal human body. Gideon now has his evidence that this was really the Lord.
Gideon built an altar and named it "The Lord is Peace" (also translated as "Jehovah-Shalom" or "Yahweh-Shalom"). This event is recorded in Judges 6:24, where it states that the altar was built after Gideon had an encounter with God and received reassurance that he would not die.
The Hebrew phrase for "Jehovah Shalom," meaning "The Lord is Peace," is יְהֹוָה שָׁלוֹם (Yəhōvāh Shālōm). It's pronounced "yeh-ho-vah shaw-lome'."
Gideon initially felt utterly unworthy of God's calling to save Israel from the Midianites. He expressed his insecurity and lack of confidence in himself, stating that his family was the weakest in Manasseh and that he was the least in his family. He questioned his ability to lead and doubted his strength.

Despite his initial doubts and feelings of unworthiness, God chose Gideon and eventually helped him to overcome his fears and insecurities to lead the Israelites to victory.
God chose Israel, not for their merits, but because of His love and a covenant established with their ancestor, Abraham. This choice wasn't based on their strength or number, as they were initially a small, powerless group. God chose them to be a "treasure people," a "kingdom of priests," and a "holy nation". He also established a covenant with them, promising blessings and accountability in exchange for their faithfulness.

God's Love and Covenant with Abraham:
God promised Abraham a great nation and land, and this promise was passed down through his descendants, including Jacob, later renamed Israel.
Gideon's first "battle" wasn't a traditional military engagement, but an act of defiance against idolatry. He was commanded to destroy the altar of Baal in his father's town and the grove of Asherah, representing an act of opposition against the prevalent worship of false gods. This was a symbolic act of rebellion against the Israelites' idolatry. Later, Gideon led a significant military victory against the Midianites.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

The Altar of Baal:
Gideon, with ten of his men, secretly destroyed the altar of Baal and cut down the grove of Asherah in the middle of the night. This act was a direct challenge to the idolatrous practices of the Israelites.
The Israelites in Gideon's city reacted with anger and a desire to kill him when they learned he had destroyed the altar of Baal and the Asherah pole. They demanded Gideon's father, Joash, hand him over to be killed. However, Joash, in a show of defiance and skepticism, challenged Baal to defend himself, effectively protecting Gideon. 🤣
The Asherah pole? That's the idea.
God reduced Gideon's army to 300 men to ensure the Israelites would give the glory for the victory to Him, not themselves. The initial large army of 32,000 was deemed too big because God wanted to demonstrate his power in a way that was undeniable. He wanted the Israelites to understand that their victory was a result of divine intervention, not their own strength or numbers.

As South Africans, we're used to frequent electricity power outages (load-shedding). I smiled when I watched the TV news from Portugal and Spain - people were panicking while shopping, and most of the food shelves were empty.
