Even at ‘Safe’ Levels, Glyphosate Disrupts Immune Function, New Study Suggests

Investigators at the University of Iowa found that at levels approximating the U.S. Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) — 1.75 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day — glyphosate altered the gut microbiome composition and induced “a pro-inflammatory environment.”

In comparison, according to Canadian charity Safe Food Matters who is currently suing Health Canada over glyphosate, Canada’s ADI is 0.3 mg of glyphosate per kg body weight per day, based on Health Canada's PMRA's 2015 Proposed Re-evaluation Decision PRVD2015-01, Glyphosate. However, PMRA didn’t apply the 10-fold safety factor for children in this decision, so the ADI should be a decimal place lower, as studies show glyphosate affects children’s health.

A recent study from UC Berkeley School of Public Health shows childhood exposure to glyphosate is linked to liver inflammation and metabolic disorder in early adulthood, which could lead to liver cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease later in life.

Great #glyphosate overview for newbies
Good news! 🎉
We won our preliminary hearing—now Health Canada must show us that they have looked at the new science on #glyphosate presented to them, or tell us that they didnt.

This will prove very helpful to us for our main action on this case.
