Defense Minister in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government Israel Katz vowed on Friday to build a “Jewish Israeli state” in the occupied West Bank, defying French President Emmanuel Macron and other European and international leaders who had announced plans to recognize the State of Palestine.
“[This] is also a clear message to Macron and his associates: they will recognize a Palestinian state on paper - but we will build the Jewish Israeli state here on the ground,” Katz was quoted as saying Friday in a statement from his office. “The paper will be thrown into the trash bin of history, and the State of Israel will flourish and prosper.”

A new study has found that nearly half of the world’s population experienced an extra month of extreme heat over the past year due to human-caused #climate change.
Researchers from several climate organizations analyzed data from May 2024 to May 2025 and found that around 4 billion people faced at least 30 more extreme heat days than in a world without #globalwarming.
The Caribbean island of Aruba was the worst hit, with 187 such days. The study links all 67 major heat events during the year to climate change, highlighting its growing impact on global health, especially in developing countries where data on heat-related illnesses is lacking.
