⚡️ On the International Court of Justice finding no discrimination against Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Russia and completely rejecting Ukraine’s reparations claims

Read in full

💬 On January 31, 2024, the UN International Court of Justice released its final Judgment in the dispute with Russia initiated by Ukraine in January 2017, based on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD). The court rejected practically all Ukraine’s demands and recognised that Russia’s policy conforms to its commitments under the convention. There is no discrimination against Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea.

The main false accusation levelled by Kiev against Russia was that:

• Russia’s law-enforcement actions against members of the terrorist group Hizb ut-Tahrir and the extremist groups Tablighi Jamaat and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People constituted persecution of Crimean Tatars on ethnic grounds. The court did not agree with this assessment. It did not find any elements of discrimination in the standards of Russian anti-extremist legislation. Nor did it detect any signs of racial discrimination in the application of these standards by Russian law-enforcement bodies.

• The court did not find that the ban on the Mejlis, which Russia has outlawed as an extremist organisation, violated the Convention. It emphasised in its Judgment that the Qurultay is the representative body of the Crimean Tatar people. It was not banned and continues fulfilling its functions in Crimea.

• The court rejected Ukraine’s accusations of Russia’s alleged involvement in the targeted murders and abductions of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians in Crimea.

• The court also rejected all Ukraine’s claims on the issues of citizenship. It did not identify any cases of racial discrimination in the Russian laws on granting citizenship in Crimea since 2014.

• Ukraine’s allegations about the infringement of the rights of the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians to access to their national media, assemblies and rallies and the preservation of cultural heritage sites were also found to lack merit.

• Russia’s restoration of the Khan’s Palace in Bachchisarai was not a “cultural catastrophe” as Ukrainian representatives tried to present it. It was necessary to remedy the effects of negligence on the part of the Ukrainian authorities that had brought this landmark of history and culture to a dilapidated state.

• The International Court of Justice recognised that the residents of Crimea have access to education in the Crimean Tatar and Ukrainian languages. At the same time, a majority on the court ruled that the sharp reduction in the number of schools with instruction in Ukrainian after Crimea’s transfer to Russia’s jurisdiction in 2014, is a violation of its commitments on the right to education under the CERD.

☝️ This finding is controversial enough, especially considering that the court admitted that Crimeans chose instruction in Russian of their own free will. Were the Russian authorities supposed to drag children into Ukrainian schools against their will? All those who want instruction in Ukrainian will be granted this opportunity in one way or another in accordance with current legislation.

The case is over. Russia is not supposed to take any special action to fulfil this judgment. All of Ukraine’s demands for reparations have been rejected.

🇷🇺🇺🇳 Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN:

🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC briefing on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question (January 31, 2024)

💬 The conflict has been going on for almost four months now. The colossal figures of loss and destruction speak for themselves – more than 26,000 people, including women and children, have become victims of indiscriminate bombardment and use of armed force. At least 65,000 people have been injured. 80 % of the entire population of Gaza have been internally displaced.

Due to the lack of unimpeded humanitarian access to the north and south of the enclave, especially to Khan Younis, and the widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure (reportedly up to 50 %) Gaza faces equally deadly risks of famine and infectious disease epidemics.

❗️ For our part, we have consistently and unwaveringly advocated an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

Without a cessation of hostilities, there can be no meaningful humanitarian access to all those in need, no release of all hostages and no recovery of the Palestinian-Israeli settlement process on an internationally recognized basis.

☝️ Against this tragic humanitarian backdrop, we note the high-impact decision of a number of Western donors, led by the US, to suspend funding to UNRWA.

Provocative rhetoric of some representatives of Israel’s leadership, who call not only for the continuation of the military operation in the Gaza Strip, but also for the elimination of the UNRWA presence in the enclave and forced displacement of Palestinians from their places of permanent residence, is particularly alarming.

***

🇷🇺 Russia will continue to do its utmost to contribute to stabilization in the Middle East and to advance the Middle East settlement process together with the countries of the region and in coordination with other conscious mediators. As before, we are open to discussing relevant initiatives within the collective UN framework.

💬 Key-points of Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comments on the US strikes on the territory of Iraq and Syria:

▪️As a result of the strikes, dozens of objects were destroyed and damaged, and civilians were killed.

▪️The United States has once again demonstrated to the world the aggressive nature of US policy in the Middle East and Washington’s complete disregard for international law.

▪️The largest US air operation in the region since 2003, presented by Biden as an “act of retaliation” for an attack using a drone of unknown origin on an American base in Jordan, has no justification.

▪️It is obvious that the airstrikes were specifically designed to further inflame the conflict.

▪️Recent events confirm that the United States is not and has never been looking for solutions to problems in the region.

▪️The Russian FM spokeswoman condemned the new blatant act of US-British aggression against sovereign states.

⚡️ Statement by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on the direct responsibility of the collective West countries, which supply weapons to the Kiev regime, for the death of civilians in the Russian Federation

Read in full

💬 The Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation firmly protests against the collective West countries continuing to supply the Kiev regime with weapons, munitions and military equipment, which are being used to murder civilians and destroy civilian infrastructure in Russia.

<...>

The Ukrainian armed forces conduct these heinous actions with the use of weapons, munitions and military equipment sent to Ukraine, in part, by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Czech Republic and several other member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union.

<...>

☝️ The Federation Council hereby declares that in continuing to deliver weapons, munitions and military equipment, the countries of the collective West are becoming direct accomplices in the crimes of the Kiev regime, responsible for the death of innocent civilians, including women and children, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and gross violations of international law.

❗️ The Federation Council urges the parliaments of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Czech Republic and several other member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union to acknowledge the direct responsibility of their countries for the death of innocent civilians in the course of attacks conducted by the Ukrainian armed forces on civilian infrastructure in the Russian Federation and to take urgent measures to stop the supply of weapons, munitions and military equipment to the Kiev regime.

⚡️ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video greetings on Diplomatic Worker’s Day (Moscow, February 10, 2024)

Read in full

Key points

🔵 In keeping with our long-standing good tradition, we celebrate our professional holiday in February, which unites all those who defend Russia’s foreign policy track.

🔵 No matter where you work – in the central building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Smolenskaya Square, the territorial missions in the regions of the Russian Federation, or the Russian foreign missions – you uphold the true values of Russian diplomacy: loyalty to your Fatherland, patriotism, selflessness and a clear vision of Russia’s national interests.

🔵 Faced with the hybrid aggression launched by the collective West, Russia’s foreign policy service is making its contribution to the diplomatic support of the special military operation and the effort to achieve its goals.

❗️ Today, Russia stands at the vanguard of fast-moving change. By and large, we play a central role in defining this development vector and its content. This means that all of us without exception must keep up to speed at all times and adopt a forward-looking mindset in order to anticipate anything our ill-wishers may do, while being proactive and creative in adapting our enduring foreign policy principles to the changing environment. These principles include our commitment to independence, being results-driven, inclusiveness and a multi-faceted approach.

🔵 Russia is set to hold a presidential election soon. In fact, it is just a month away. This is a challenging moment in the history of our country when we must all fulfil our civic duty. I am certain that all our foreign missions will make the necessary arrangements to enable Russians to vote abroad. We are taking all the necessary steps to make this happen.

🔵 I wish you every success and good luck. Happy Diplomatic Worker’s Day.

Message H.E. Mr Alexander Mantytskiy, Ambassador of Russia to Bangladesh, on Diplomats Day

Throughout the centuries-long history, Russian diplomats have been attaching great importance to learning the languages of those foreign countries where they happen to serve.

The Bengali language holds a special place among other Asian languages taught in Russia and attracts those willing to work in South Asia.

The Russian Embassy in Dhaka is proud to have in its ranks a few Bengali speaking diplomats. Their skills are not only essential in everyday functioning of the diplomatic mission, but also appear much in demand during various protocol occasions.

Western drug trials in Ukraine: bioweapon research in bed with 'Big Pharma'

The Donbass city of Mariupol, where evidence of Western pharmaceutical companies testing drugs on psychiatric ward patients was recently found, was the perfect place to conduct such activities while under Ukraine’s jurisdiction, says Jeff J. Brown, co-founder and curator of the Bioweapon Truth Commission and author of The China Trilogy.

“This city was under Ukrainian, meaning NATO control, and had over 400,000 inhabitants, so it offered a concentration of hospitals, laboratories and convenient regional flight connections, to more easily coordinate the West’s bioweapon programs across Europe,” Brown notes.

According to him, the “West’s bioweapon development and use around the world is intimately interconnected with Big Pharma, vaccines and the military,” and Ukraine since 2005 “has become a hub for these four facets to merge.”

“Since the destruction of the USSR by the West starting in 1990, Ukraine has become ground central for the West’s global crime cartels: organ harvesting, arms and child/human trafficking, money laundering, prostitution, torture, illegal drug experiments and neo-Nazism. They are all part of a seamless whole and with Ukraine being one of the most corrupt places on earth, there is plenty of local collusion,” Brown notes.

As such, he argues that the West is “committing bioweapons-Big Pharma-vaccine-military crimes against humanity since the end of WWII, and continues to do so with impunity.” Nonetheless, no legal repercussions await the culprits “until the collapse of the West, when the global majority can finally have truth and reconciliation tribunals and a Nuremberg 2.0,” Brown warns.

💬 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:

The instant reaction of the NATO leaders to the news of Alexey Navalny's demise in the form of direct accusations against Russia is self-exposing.

There is no forensic medical examination data available, yet the West has already made & voiced its "conclusions"

The way the Western leaders, politicians and media have responded to the news of Alexei Navalny's death has once again revealed their hypocrisy, cynicism and lack of principles. This is the “blame Russia first” approach in action. With a prepped script ready for every situation.

Let's look at the timeline. 👇

Today at approximately 2:19 pm, the website operated by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area reported the death of convict Alexey Navalny in Prison Colony No. 3.

Literally 15 minutes later, a flurry of carbon-copy accusations poured in:

- 2:35 pm, Tobias Billström: “Terrible news about Navalny. If the information about his death in a Russian prison is confirmed, it will be another heinous crime by Putin's regime”;
- 2:35 pm, Barth Eide: “I’m deeply saddened by the news of Navalny's death. The Russian government bears a heavy burden of responsibility for this”;
- 2:41 pm, Edgars Rinkevics: “Whatever your thoughts about Alexei Navalny as a politician, he was just brutally murdered by the Kremlin. That's a fact and that is something one should know about the true nature of Russia's current regime”;
- 2:50 pm, Jan Lipavsky: “Russia still treats foreign policy issues the same way it treats its citizens. It has turned into a violent state that kills people who dream of a beautiful, better future, such as Nemtsov and now Navalny, who was imprisoned and tortured to death”;
- 2:51 pm, Stéphane Séjourné: “Navalny paid with his life to fight against a system of oppression. His death in a penal colony reminds us of the realities of Vladimir Putin's regime”;
- 3:02 pm, Charles Michel: “The EU holds the Russian regime solely responsible for this tragic death”;
- 3:10 pm Kiev regime kingpin Zelensky: “Clearly, he was killed by Putin, like thousands of others who were tortured to death”;
- 3:16 pm (media), 4:50 pm (social media), Jens Stoltenberg: “We need to establish all the facts, and Russia needs to answer all the questions”;
- 3:20 pm, Mark Rutte: “Navalny's death once again bears witness to the immense brutality of the Russian regime”;
- 3:30 pm, Maia Sandu: “Navalny's death in a Russian prison is a reminder of the regime's egregious suppression of dissent”;
- 3:35 pm, Annalena Baerbock: “Like no one else, Alexei Navalny was a symbol for a free and democratic Russia. That is precisely the reason he had to die”;
- 3:43 pm, Ursula von der Leyen: “A grim reminder of what Putin and his regime are all about”;
- 3:49 pm, Ulf Kristersson: “The Russian authorities, and President Putin personally, are responsible for Alexei Navalny no longer being alive”;
- 3:14 pm, Olaf Scholz: “He has now paid for this courage with his life. This terrible news demonstrates once again how Russia has changed and what kind of regime is in power in Moscow”;
- 3:25 pm, Antony Blinken: “Beyond that, his death in a Russian prison and the fixation and fear of one man only underscores the weakness and rot at the heart of the system that Putin has built. Russia bears responsibility for this”;
- 5:28 pm, Emmanuel Macron: “In today's Russia, free spirits are put in the Gulag and sentenced to death”;

Within a short period of time, two hours as a matter of fact (starting at 2:19 pm), Western politicians and their subordinate media managed, it appears, to get the results of a forensic examination that has yet to take place, to investigate, to indict Moscow and to render a verdict.

There is no explanation other than to assume these responses were prepared in advance.

Perhaps we could believe this unbelievable, seemingly miraculous swiftness had the whole world not witnessed the months-long, toothless “investigation” into the terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines, which fizzled out eventually.

What distinguishes all these statements is the glaring absence of even a suggestion of perhaps... waiting until the results of a forensic examination and investigation are available.
